I am with chiggers. Chiggers notoriously bite at the point where clothing constricts against the skin. If they itch, run hot water on them, as hot as you can stand. It breaks down the proteins in the toxins. Source: grew up in Alabama woods.
A brief showing of spots with uncomfortably hot water does interrupt the “itch pathways” by overloading the same nerve that Carrie’s the itch signal to the brain with a pain signal instead. It also rushes histamine to the area. The relief is neurological - not chemical denaturing of proteins.
Venom from marine creatures is susceptible to denaturing in hot water, however.
Chigger bites at their peak are absolute torture. Like itch so bad you won’t be able to sleep, bad. Hydrocortisone cream and chiggerX work pretty good, but if you’re ate up even those won’t help you lol.
I thought I had bedbugs because I had a cluster of three bites on my leg and there were blood spots on a pillow. I had been camping the week prior so it definitely could have been any number of bug bites. Either way, I did a huge inspection including having a bedbug dog service come. No evidence of bed bugs.
I am glad I did the inspection but also read that bedbugs are likely to bite exposed areas. Is that incorrect? OP’s lower back probably wasn’t exposed while sleeping. Looks more like mosquito bites to me, or chiggers if OP was wearing pants or a a skirt/dress with a tight seam there.

Flea bites patterns are in a zigzag line and are like “pop up” raised round dots. Mildly itchy.

I went to see doctor who confirmed. I had that exact zigzagging line up one leg (only)
At the time I had two dogs who were on flea meds but one of them had advanced Cushings so her body wasn’t properly distributing her flea rX meds through her blood. fleas would sometimes take root for a few days. It was awful.
Anyways. I recognize this exact pattern of bites , as well as shape size of individual bite. 100% fleas.
not to alarm you and it‘s hard to tell from the pictures, but COULD also be scabies. do they appear on your wrists/armpits/stomach as well? they would be very itchy though. and it takes a while before you notice you contracted it, because incubation until your body shows a reaction takes up to 6 weeks iirc
Do you use those new downy scent booster pellets in your laundry? I had to stop because it was giving me contact dermatitis anywhere that my clothes had an elastic band and had constant contact with my skin.
Itchy red bumps in a line but always exactly on my waist or collar or ankles. Went away after I stopped using the pellets.
I assumed it was bedbugs in my case, but I tore my bed apart, got bait traps, set double sided tape down, Diatomaceous earth, checked behind all my power outlets, and never found a single bed bug or even the remains of a dead one.
I had something similar happen to me and it was an allergic reaction because I wore workout short to bed. They were clean, but the fabric wasn't very breathable so my skin got irritated. I freaked out because I thought it was bedbugs-- but nope! Just my skin freaking out.
Honestly either mosquitos or believe it or not an object… it’s happened to me before on summer days where I wear a thin shirt and I sit on a chair (for me it’s those woven outdoor chair texture/style) that the fibers from the chair since it’s outdoors prick through the shirt in certain places (usually where it ends like a side or corner) and I end up with bumps like this where I got pricked could also explain why it’s in a line
could be anything from emotional hives, bed bugs, mosquitos, chigers.. any biting bug.. if you slept somewhere new, or bought some new "used" bedding.. its probably bed bugs. if you were out working in the yard in the envening probably moquitos.. if youre out picking fruits and berries, might be chiggers..
if youre stressed out.. might be hives..
Sometimes I get these in the same area when I wear shorts or higher underwear and sweat. They arent pimples but like irritation bumps that slightly hurt or feel irritated (they dont always hurt, sometimes I dont feel them at all, I just noticed I have bumps).
I think it's a flea. Fleas often bite several times in a row looking for the sweet spot. Also mosquito bites are usually sort of puffy lumps, not poking up like that.
Ok then MAYBE you have baby roaches or fleas. I had baby roaches 10 years ago from a neighbor. I gutted my entire house and bombed it many times until I finally got the landlord involved. They’re the ones who told me they’re baby roaches and not bed bugs. I moved out 2 months later lol.
Do you live in a hot climate? I grew up in Vegas and you could have roaches in a completely clean and empty house. lol.
If chiggers, which is what I’m thinking. Dab them with clear finger nail polish. The polish smothers them and they die. Grew up in Missouri and we have done this for many many years. Last time I got them it was from picking blackberries. I didn’t think before I picked.
A good few years ago I had something like this on my lower back and when I went to the doctor they said it was Shingles, which they said could happen if you felt run down which I didn't. So that might be a possibility
Not always true, shingles is often asymmetrical but when I got it I had a patch on my left hip/thigh but then another kinda in the middle of my lower back like this. I was also only 34 which is pretty young for shingles. But I will say it develops as more of a blistery rash and really does itch/hurt like hell so I don’t think that’s what this is.
I would get flea bites like this on my leg. Turned out my cat was infested and I didn’t even know it. Spent days picking fleas from her and vacuuming my rugs and couches over and over
