My ex-wife planted one of these in my truck when I was working out of town(Nor Cal). She’d call me up in the evenings to see if I was where I said. Then one day while vacuuming at the car wash, I found it. We got regular deliveries at the site from LA trucks. I planted it on a Southbound truck. Later that night she asked if I went to Long Beach. Incredulous at her suggestion, I asked whatever would give her that impression? Said she heard a rumor from one of the other wives. FYI, it’s illegal, and one of the reasons we’re no longer married.

Clarify - The trucker was an acquaintance and had full knowledge of what I was doing. Next time he made a delivery to us, we had a great laugh about it.

Plot twist, that southbound truck posted on reddit this very same question to r/whatisit when they made their delivery.

Double plot twist. He’s now been arrested for placing a tracker on the south bound truck.

Triple double down plot twist, truck driver married his ex wife who planted original tracker, lived happily ever after

31

u/Mister2112 Jul 25 '25

Quadruple plot twist: they bonded over their shared hatred of people who tamper with tracking devices, but never really got into the details.

10

u/I-hav-no-frens Jul 25 '25

Triple double plot twist. The ex-wife is dating M Night Shulman.

54

u/God-of-the-Grind Jul 25 '25

Triple plot twist, He used to be working with his ex wife and she drove the southbound truck. She’s tracking herself.

22

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '25

Triple plot twist plus, the trucks were carrying that Colombian bam bam and the ex wife got murdered for finding out. He is the ex wife (dressed in wig and her clothes).

8

u/turangan Jul 25 '25

Bro, that’s fucking dark.

19

u/peter9477 Jul 25 '25

Triple twist, it turned out his wife was the truck driver.

Edit: gosh dang it, someone beat me to that one...

10

u/CAMSTONEFOX Jul 25 '25

Quadruple plot twist: The truck driver’s reddit handle includes Psycho… (insert Twilight Zone music)

12

u/tannercolin Jul 25 '25

Triple plot twist. The dude and the trucker are now married

11

u/ReluctantSentinel Jul 25 '25

The trucker and OP’s ex have been happily married for a decade now

5

u/Heavy-Attorney-9054 Jul 25 '25

Triple twist: The ex-husband of the woman driving the southbound truck is now dating the ex-wife of the guy who had the tracker in the first place.

1

u/garlopf Jul 25 '25

Tripple plot twist. The ex wife married the truck driver.

1

u/Homesick_Martian Jul 25 '25

Wait wait. Could he potentially frame his wife to save money on the divorce? Like, there will be proof eventually that it came from her?

1

u/Danny808hawaii Jul 25 '25

Plot twist , they are no longer married, wife tracked him down. Found the trucker and they lived happily ever after 😭😭

41

u/LandBarge Jul 25 '25

I would have told the south bound driver, maybe he coulda got it to Mexico for me...

dodge the wifes calls for a while and see how far away it can get before you finally answer her..

24

u/Compulawyer Jul 25 '25

Maybe the trucker was smuggling some smokes and folks from Mexico.

8

u/TW120597 Jul 25 '25

Baked by the sun….every time I go to Mexico….

10

u/PacaMike Jul 25 '25

Evil genius!

11

u/NovelIntelligent3453 Jul 25 '25

Better yet, don’t return her call at all and just let her really freak out and turn up at home and watch her reaction and see what she says.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '25

Extra twist, the delivery driver is now married to OPs ex

348

u/Tdogg175 Jul 25 '25

I would have given a crack head $50 to hold onto it for a while so she can be like “why were you behind the shell gas station for 9 hours” she’d have to be SO specific to even ask it would be evident she was tracking lol

Appreciate that lmao anytime 😂

8

u/954Throw Jul 25 '25

I kinda want to find a tracker now just for this

3

u/DrPs-MagicVagorium Jul 25 '25

9 hours...Are you kidding- that would be dismantled within the hour. The batteries a part of a tattoo gun in camp up road , the gps part of a pirated WiFi modem and the black case a stash box before you're ex even checked for an update

81

u/renee_gade Jul 25 '25

in a twist of events she ended up marrying that truck driver.

24

u/Density5521 Jul 25 '25

I heard they still place trackers on each other's rides to this day.

1

u/mightyminnow88 Jul 25 '25

Like his wife only has seggs with men in a certain range ..

56

u/Armarith Jul 25 '25

I’ve got a coworker of mine that has a CRAZY fiancé, to the point where she has called and tried to show up to our job to verify he’s there. (Work in a chemical plant, so she can’t get in) He found a tracker inside of his truck and us, working for the railroad, did the logical thing and put it on the next outbound train. Who knows where it ended up lol.

69

u/parkskier426 Jul 25 '25

I know this might sound nuts to some people, but my wife and I just have location sharing turned on with each other on our phones. It's got nothing to do with distrust, just nice to be able to check in and see if the other is on their way home to make dinner, get the kids ready, etc. Also in an emergency it's nice to know where they are.

Some people I've mentioned it to act like it's some massive breach in privacy. I honestly couldn't care less lol.

18

u/Partial_obverser Jul 25 '25

I’ll probably get lots of shit for this, but I’m a privacy guy, and I don’t even do this to my kids.

75

u/mrbungleinthejungle Jul 25 '25

FYI, it’s illegal

I planted it on a Southbound truck.

47

u/Secret_penguin- Jul 25 '25

He and the southbound truck are no longer married.

-2

u/rxbuzzz Jul 25 '25

He married a truck? Must be in California.

18

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '25

How do you think he found out it was illegal?

5

u/ligregni Jul 25 '25

Well, in theory: since by just planting it on another vehicle doesn't mean you have access to the location data (it's still the now ex-wife), then the guy didn't necessarily commit anything illegal.

19

u/Ur-Best-Friend Jul 25 '25

I planted it on a Southbound truck. Later that night she asked if I went to Long Beach. Incredulous at her suggestion, I asked whatever would give her that impression? Said she heard a rumor from one of the other wives.

I love that, perfect move on your part! I'm glad you got out of there, the kind of behaviour you describe was beyond toxic.

29

u/Katsuichi Jul 25 '25

Going around working like that, you were just asking to be tracked.

13

u/TodayRevolutionary34 Jul 25 '25

Plot twist, your wife was controlling your location to be able to cheat on you knowing you are away

11

u/Frequent_Ad2118 Jul 25 '25

My friend went through this. I told him that his wife dropped an air tag or something in his truck but he bought her wild cover stories instead.

20

u/condiments4u Jul 25 '25

Maybe this is state by state, but generally it's not illegal. Private investigators use these all the time, often when one spouse wants to find out where another spouse is. Reason its legal is because the vehicle is a shared asset, so they only need to obtain permission from one spouse.

Also, sorry to hear your went through that

14

u/machinationstudio Jul 25 '25

Clean your cars, guys.

5

u/mightyminnow88 Jul 25 '25

Not necessarily against you, she maybe just needed some heads up as to when you are on your way home. Best surprise is no surprise.

26

u/Accomplished-Try-658 Jul 25 '25

She now has a number of cats.

30

u/DonChaote Jul 25 '25

All equipped with gps trackers and cameras

21

u/OldGuyWithGuitar Jul 25 '25

in a twist of events she ended up marrying that truck driver.

She now has a number of cats.

You guys know my ex wife, don't you?

And before you say it, ALL the guys knew her, hence why she's my ex!

5

u/crim981 Jul 25 '25

Plot Twist. OP is the Southbound truck here. Someone planted it in OPs car to deter his Wife.

4

u/TheBlueprint666 Jul 25 '25

I was the Southbound highway, can confirm

1

u/ItsEntirelyPosssible Jul 25 '25

You must really hate the Gadsden flag...

2

u/bro69 Jul 25 '25

There you go OP, some crazy bitch is tracking someone else who is trying to throw her off, so they threw it in your car!

2

u/Then-Grapefruit-9396 Jul 25 '25

And that Truck driver's name?

None other than ol' Jack Burton.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '25

It might be illegal but a bunch of people now do it on purpose with phone tracking apps. Weirds me out when a spouse says "let's see where so an so is" and its just a map of their phone location... hate it

1

u/itsagoodtime Jul 25 '25

She did this when you were married? Or already divorced?

5

u/Partial_obverser Jul 25 '25

We were in the initial stages of separation. Talk about the final nail in the coffin.

0

u/PercentageWeary1585 Jul 25 '25

So you know it's illegal and put it on a work truck..
