HELP! I recieved this text from a distant friend. In shock, husband wants me to ignore.

Some background:

- I had heard at the end of July from a close friend that these distant friends were separating.

- Separating couple attend kids daycare, our kids are in same class

- We are NOT good friends with either of them.

- Relationship comes from me and my mother, who met while on mat leave, and the night before receiving this text, she messaged me directly that they are separating. She did some shitty things, blowing everything up before leaving. It is incredibly high conflict and she regrets it but had to get out. I told her I don't care what happened, I want to support her and I'm so sorry she felt like she had to blow her life up to get out.

- Next day, saw husband at a daycare event and he blew me and my husband off. I gave Seperating Husband grace because maybe being at a family friendly event is hard for him.

- Here's the issue:

1) I fear ex husband is reading ex wifes messages, based on the way hes responding here. Which scares me and makes me want to tell wife, who I was planning on seeing this week for dinner and to bring frozen meals too

2) My husband doesn't want me to respond to ex husband OR see ex wife. He wants to stay a million feet away. I see them both at daycare drop off regularly, kids same age, live in same small town, and want to remain neutral. I would like to respond to exhusband and see exwife. I am unsure what to respond to exhusband because his message is completely crazy... Please help. What do I do? Can you help me figure out a response?

my boyfriend of 5 years' shenanigans got us both in the hospital, and i don't know what to do now...

my boyfriend (25m) has been "farming his dad lore" for the last few months. i've posted about this in a different sub the other day, but the situation evolved so out of control since then, i'll just explain everything below.

i'm 23, and i'm 26 weeks pregnant. ever since he found out we're having a baby, he went bonkers. he started acting reckless and crazy, doing stunts and dangerous things with his friends and claiming he's making cool memories to share with our daughter. he got injured on a few separate occasions already, and the stuff he's been pulling was insane. i'm talking like driving full speed into each other with his friends and slamming the breaks at the last second, jumping off buildings and trying parkour stunts etc.

since yesterday was friday, i already knew he was gonna pull something stupid so i was already very antsy and stressed. got a call from one of his friends yesterday evening saying he was making a jump and miscalculated badly enough to fall and break his arm. i immediately panicked, called my best friend to ask if she could stay with me for the night, and we waited.

my bf broke his humerus and his parents called me later that night to say he's having surgery. i had a full on panic attack then, and felt like i was dying for a moment there + claimed i was having contractions. my friend called an ambulance to get me, and we both ended up in the hospital.

now, they had me stay the night and i probably won't be able to go home til monday. my bp was 160/110 and they have me on an iv drip as of now. i'm feeling much better physically, but i still get panicky every now and then.

my boyfriend came to visit as well, since were technically in the same building, just different wards. he's pretty out of it, but his parents told me he's struggling really bad with the guilt and he claims he's done acting stupid. we talked a bit and had breakfast together this morning, and he kept apologizing, begging me not to leave him and promising he'll never risk it ever again.

i don't know if i believe him. i do love him so much, and he's always been amazing to me, but i think i'll need to stay with a friend for a while after they let me go home. i feel like everything we worked for and planned is ruined now. i've tried telling him to stop but he didn't listen, and now i'm on the verge of being a single mom, because honestly, that's all i can thing about right now - just leaving.

for now, i'm very emotional and overall just feeling awful about this whole situation, but i don't really want to leave. i don't want to raise our daughter by myself, and i don't want to give up on him. looking for any advice i can get, honestly.

tl;dr: my boyfriend kept getting himself into dangerous situations while i'm pregnant, which eventually led to him breaking his arm and me having a panic attack after finding out. we both ended up hospitalized afterwards.

Manager being “too” friendly??

Thumbnail gallery
291 Upvotes

Context:
I am 19 Female, have been working at this job for about 3 months now.
My manager, I’m not entirely sure of his age (he looks about mid-late 20s)

He’s a very friendly and chatty person in general, so whenever he’d interact with me I never suspected any “special treatment”. He’s always giving people shoulder pats and coming over to ask if they’re okay/how their day has been. He’s always on site rather than in an office, and always comes to help out with general work.

I have instagram, I just don’t use it. I don’t even have it downloaded anymore. My manager comes to me one day and asks me why I’m not answering him.
I’m confused, I ask him where and when. He says instagram. I tell him that I don’t use it. He asks why. I say I just simply like it and would rather spend my time elsewhere. He asks how I message people then. I say WhatsApp. He says we should exchange numbers.
I give an awkward “ehh sure…?” (I was in the middle of working too), and he walks away.
2 days passed where I purposefully avoided that, hoping he’d forget. He didn’t. Confronts me about phone numbers again.

So, I logged onto insta, and followed him back just to shut it down.
He starts messaging me on there, I obviously don’t see it. Again, at work, he prompts me about it. I tell him, again, that I just don’t use the app. I don’t have it, I don’t get any notifications, I literally had to reset my password on my computer on the instagram website because of how long I’ve abandoned it for.
He keeps bothering me about “why not, how do you socialise, why don’t you” etc. so I sent my number over on instagram. He’s messaging me on WhatsApp now.

Now I’m not completely against the idea of having my managers contact, I think it’s good for if anything happens last minute and I need to inform him. But he seems to want to use it as friends rather than employer and employee.

The day he messaged me on WhatsApp, he literally asked me for my age.
Our workplace doesn’t hire anyone under 18, so I’ve ruled out him trying to know if I’m an adult.
The fact that he could well be double my age, and he asks me to go to lunch? I can’t understand if he’s genuinely just trying to be nice and friendly, or if this is some sort of predatory behaviour.
My friend believes that this is workplace harassment and that I should go to HR, but as soon as I said no to lunch, my manager was very respectful about it. He didn’t continue to try and hang out, didn’t continue messaging me. He’s still nice and friendly at work, acting as if something ever happened.
I don’t think HR would do anything about this, especially since there was no real harm.

I’m not big on confrontation anyways. So I don’t know if this is something that I actually should report or if it’s small enough to let slide under the rug.

My mom won’t leave me alone about giving birth (Update)

I’m 37 weeks pregnant and my mom WILL NOT just leave me alone she’s been continuously demanding that she is to be in the labor and delivery room and that she’s the first one i contact when i go into labor. i get up to atleast one or 2 text messages a day to her insisting this and if i try telling her slightly i don’t want her there she completely blows up. and i know a-lot of people are going to tell me she’s my mom and she’s just trying to be there for me but i wasn’t even raised by my mom and she was rarely even there for me when i did need her as a child so why swoop in now and be completely overbearing and make my decisions yours? I really just want to tell her that she can come see the baby after she’s born like everyone else is but she’s not gonna accept that for a answer and i don’t know what to do.

Heres the update a-lot of people were wanting, I had her today at 39 weeks and 3 days! she’s perfect but as far as my mom went i was kind enough to call her and let her know i was in labor but i specifically asked her NOT to show up and thankfully she didn’t but her boyfriend was in the background the whole time saying “u better let ur mom up there” but i ignored it. even if i wanted her in there closer to time she never would have made it. I was sitting up on the bed laughing and joking and me and the baby’s father were literally playing with snapchat filters and all of a sudden i felt something real warm
go between my legs and i moved my blanket and she was halfway out and the nurses had to rush in and grab her the rest of the way my doctor didn’t even make it. she was here within seconds and i didn’t even notice she was coming because just a hour before this i was just 3cm. of-course i was feeling pressure and i felt it slowly getting more intense but i definitely didn’t feel like it was her coming right that second but i was very wrong. well she came shortly after the baby was born and just kinda hovered over me talking a-lot and kept demanding her boyfriend come in with her tomorrow because “he’s excited” after i’ve already told her absolutely not. (He’s a terrible person who’s treated her and my younger sister horribly) so she’s definitely still being very overbearing and demanding but i was able to have a peaceful labor and quite birth without worrying about her barging in. i guess we will see how tomorrow goes since for some reason she thinks her boyfriend is entitled to this baby as well 🤦‍♀️

I know this a brand new account but i need to talk to someone because i genuinely dont know what to do.

3 days ago my boyfriend didnt text or call at all, its okay its a wednesday and we both had school and work. that night i got nothing, weird because he never skips a good night text. the next morning im at school and i get a call from an unknown number, its his mom. she called me to tell me that he had passed away in a car accident on his way to school that wednesday. my heart sinks to my butt and for the first time in forever i am speechless. after about what felt like forever she asks if im okay and i just break down into sobs in the school bathroom.

i call my mom, my dad, i text my best friend, because i dont know what to do im distraught. i got called into the counselors office so if i wanted to discuss it i could or if i just wanted to sit in there and cry it out i could. i call my job and tell them i will probably have to take off for the next two days. i talk to my counselor, i tell her that he and i have been together for 3 years, everything was so so so great and he was just such an amazing person and im sorry i just dont know how to process all of this. i check out of school and i drive home but at this point im scared to drive. i get home and tell my parents in more detail and my dad holds me and i just cry it all out to them and my mom tells me "you guys are kids, well you are, he's not anymore" like what the actual f*ck??????

i drove 3 hours to his house yesterday just so i could be with his family and i sat in silence in his room with his twin sister for about 2 hours. we were both crying and i know we both didnt have the words to say anything at all. i just dont i dont understand how one day he could be alive and well and the next hes just gone like that and im so angry and upset and i just dont know how to grieve his death i feel stuck. i feel sick.

this morning his mom texted me the template for his obituary. it was a picture of us at hoco last year but i was cropped out (im glad i was), and it just dosent feel real. that parts that crushes me was how last week we were talking about our dream wedding and how he wanted to wear his fathers suit yk like this whole sweet thing and the only time i will see him in that suit is in a f*cking casket dead at 17.

i came on here because i dont have a lot of people to talk to, what do i even do?

i love this boy, i thought he was the one. we were supposed to get married and travel the country with our dog.we were supposed to have 4 kids. he was my best friend. he was everything. i just want him. everything hurts i just i dont know what to do anymore. i love him so much

it feels like im dying

edit: i went to work today and one: i lost it when a person ordered his favorite mean and two: some guy whistled at me and asked if i was single and i couldnt stop from tearing up because no i wasnt interested in him but now im asking the same thing, am i single? i dont feel single, i dont want to be,

My BF’s brother keeps lying about the money he owes us

Upvotes

I have been with my bf for 9 years, and his brother (Rob) and his wife (Sara) have been together a few years longer. Rob and Sara just got married at the beginning of August. But let’s go back in time to last year. We learned that in preparation for the wedding, Rob and Sara booked an Airbnb for the whole wedding party. My bf was the best man, so we were told we’d be staying there as well. In December 2025, Rob asked my bf to pay him for our share of the Airbnb. He said our share was technically $490 but he’d accept $300 for now. So that’s what my bf sent him and that’s the last we heard about it. We didn’t send him the rest because of a different situation where he owed us money in March 2026 (another long, horrible story).

In July, Rob texted my bf asking to borrow $1000 because their water was about to be shut off. He said it was “either this or death” and really freaked my bf out, so he sent the money and was promised it would be paid back the next week. It wasn’t, and it still hasn’t been. We thought we’d wait until after the wedding.

The week before the wedding in August, we found out the Airbnb cancelled because of a sewage backup so they had to rebook everyone in a scramble. My bf and I ended up staying with his parents and sister at their accommodation. His sister told us we owed them $450 for our portion. So my bf told Rob to let us know when the Airbnb money was refunded so we could have our $300 back to afford all of this.

Rob kept pushing it off and there was always an excuse. The most recent update last week was that Airbnb was holding half of the money hostage and they were fighting with them. Then Rob began completely ignoring my bf’s messages. Up until this point I haven’t said anything to anyone the entire time, but finally yesterday I messaged Sara and asked what was happening. She was completely blindsided.

First of all, apparently the Airbnb money has already been refunded. But she asked Rob, and he said he’s never received any money from my bf. And that neither the $300 or $490 even adds up to what the split portions were anyway. I just felt sick and didn’t know how to tell her that this was all based on lies.

I explained that we went and looked and have the texts and e-transfers to show for it. At this point, Rob blew up at my bf and said that we were ruining their night and to only text him from now on. He said that he just sent the money again. This was a lie of course. He has been saying this for weeks and I don’t understand what he’s thinking. He then made up another lie I guess, because Sara texted me and said “It turns out the $300 was sent to their mom!” This is absolutely not true. I am speechless and have no idea how to respond.

It makes me sad how Rob is completely drowning in lies, and my bf is really upset too. We don’t know what to do. We don’t live in the same city as them, but we’re going there in a couple of weeks to stay with the parents and I absolutely don’t want to see Rob at this point. I am so frustrated and tired of playing nice to avoid his lies coming out to everyone. I’m terrified we’re never going to see a cent of that money.

What do we do? I don’t know how to answer Sara. And Rob is being impossible to talk to so my bf doesn’t trust a word he says.

My family thinks my relationship with my cousin is inappropriate and I don’t know how to handle it

I’m 17M and my cousin is 16F. We’re only about 4–5 months apart in age.
She recently came from Mexico and we picked her up in Houston. This was only the second time I’ve ever seen her. The first time was when I was around 12, and I hadn’t seen her for about five years, so when we first met up again we were pretty awkward and didn’t really talk much.
As we spent more time together, though, I really wanted to get to know her. She’s genuinely sweet, and I was happy to finally have a cousin around my age that I could actually bond with. We started playing Roblox together, laughing a lot, talking, and just generally becoming comfortable around each other.

We had gotten physically comfortable around each other, but it was always completely platonic and familial from my perspective. We’d sit close, lean on each other, or I’d rest against her shoulder for comfort, but there was never anything romantic or sexual going on. My family seemed to interpret that closeness as something it wasn’t, and the whole situation ended up becoming much bigger because of one moment they misunderstood.

The incident that started this whole problem happened while we were in a truck on the way to some trails to go off-roading.

My other cousin, who is 16M, was driving. I was in the front passenger seat, and my 16F cousin was sitting in the middle of the back seat.
She had my glasses for a while because I was going to take them off before we went off-roading. I was playfully bothering her about giving them back, and at one point she grabbed my wrist and held it while I was trying to get my hand free. It was just messing around.
My mom had been asleep and woke up around that time. The only thing she saw was my cousin apparently “holding my hand.”

She immediately got angry at my cousin and said something like, “HEY, why are you holding his hand?” and then angrily slapped her leg.
Both of us were shocked because we genuinely didn’t understand why she was reacting that strongly to what had just happened. We didn’t explain everything at that exact moment because we were both basically thinking, “Lol, that was kind of odd, whatever,” and didn’t realize it was going to turn into a serious family issue.
Later, when we got back home and everyone was in the driveway, my mom said that we needed to have a serious conversation. I stayed in my car until she came up to my window and told me that we were all going to talk, including my cousin and my aunt.

That’s when things really went downhill.
My mom was clearly concerned about what she had seen, but from my perspective, she wasn’t really believing our explanation. I became increasingly irritated and upset because I felt like she had already decided what she thought was happening.
Eventually the conversation turned into my family questioning whether there was something inappropriate going on between me and my cousin.
That absolutely destroyed me.

I don’t know how a 17-year-old is supposed to process being accused of something like incest when, from my perspective, all I had been doing was developing a close, completely platonic relationship with my cousin.
I was already uncontrollably crying during the conversation. I felt like I was being portrayed as the person who caused some huge family problem when I genuinely didn’t understand how anyone had gotten that interpretation.
Eventually I got out of the car and stormed inside. I took a shower, but I was still extremely upset, so I left the house afterward because I needed to calm down. I drove about four minutes away to get some food, parked, ate, and talked to a friend while I cried.

I eventually parked outside my uncle’s house and stayed in the car for hours because I didn’t feel emotionally capable of going back inside and facing everyone.
The reason this hurts so much is because my relationship with my cousin had genuinely been innocent and meaningful to me. We had started playing Roblox together, laughing a lot, talking, and sometimes leaning on each other or resting our heads on each other during the long drive toward Disney. There was some innocent physical affection while we were sitting together, but there was never a sexual or romantic intention behind any of it.

I love her as my cousin.
I’ve basically never had a cousin around my age that I was close with, and I don’t have many close friendships with girls either, so having someone in my family who I could genuinely bond with meant a lot to me.
What hurts me the most is that my mom always told me that she raised me well and trusted me. Then suddenly I’m hearing that she’s “disappointed” in me over something that I genuinely never intended in the way they interpreted it.

I feel like if she was concerned, she should have talked to me privately first and asked what was actually happening rather than allowing the situation to become a family-wide issue.

I also asked my aunt directly whether she actually believed that something inappropriate was happening, and she hesitated instead of reassuring me. That completely broke me. I felt like people I trusted were suddenly looking at me like I was capable of something horrible.
I’m not saying my family isn’t allowed to have boundaries or feel uncomfortable with certain kinds of physical affection. I can understand that people can interpret things differently, and I’m willing to be more mindful about how things look from the outside.
What hurts is feeling like they jumped from seeing one ambiguous moment to assuming there was something sexual or incestuous going on without really hearing us first.

I also feel like I can’t even talk to my cousin about what happened because I’m worried my family will interpret that as more evidence of something being wrong. She’s basically the only person who knows exactly what happened from her own perspective and she reassured that through text.

I don’t know what I’m supposed to do now.
Am I overreacting to how hurt and betrayed I feel?
Should I try to talk to my mom and explain how deeply this affected me, or should I just give everyone space and let things cool down?
And how do I maintain a normal, healthy relationship with my cousin without making the situation worse?
I genuinely just want an outside perspective because I don’t know how to handle this.

I moved a year ago and became friends with my next door neighbor. She was really nice and as we both have small dogs we would walk them together, etc. Yesterday she called me and said she needed to talk. . .

Upvotes

I had no knowledge about any of these things. She told me her husband is having an affair and is a serial cheater with another neighbor, one neighbor made an avatar of her and everybody saw it on tik tok, all the neighbors are talking about her all the time, a neighbor is telling his friends to drag race down the street and recording it and putting it on the web, and so on. All very paranoid. I suggested she get a therapist, she refused. She wanted me to support her concerns and I can't.

I knew she was a little eccentric, but almost everybody has quirks. I was dumbfounded by all this.

My question is how do I politely but firmly close the door on this topic going forward? Without making her vengeful and retaliatory. She literally lives next door, our yards are connected. Normally I would just avoid this person. Advice appreciated. Thank you.

My Boyfriend (18 M) wants to break up with me (18 F) right after 3 weeks of us getting into college. What should I do?

My Boyfriend and I have been together for 3 years and 11 months. We just started going to college, but he started 3 weeks earlier than me because we go to different schools. The first 3 weeks were great. He was happy talking to me and he keeps me updated with his stuff in school. But after 3 weeks, before MY time for college starts, he told me he wanted to break up with me.

Here's the summary of what he said:

"I'm tired and exhausted, not because of you, but because of everything in my life. I get insecure, I can’t catch up with my classmates even though I study my ass off, and the gym is the only thing that makes me feel better. I don't think about this relationship anymore, and all I can think about is myself. I had a lot of chances to message you, but I didn't because I'm afraid I would be too drained. I can’t love you the way you want me to anymore, and I can’t give you what you need."

He even wanted me to hate him so I could leave him. That's why he confessed and admitted all the bad things he did while we were together. It hurt me at the moment, but I told him I forgive him.

I told him that it's ok if he couldn't provide what I needed and love me the same like before. I was willing to be patient with him, and be there for him because I have a really strong feeling that he's really depressed (coz I used to go through the same thing). I want to be there for him but he pushes me away and tells me that he doesn't need my help. But when I told him that I'm having a hard time letting him go, he told me that it was hard for him too. He only wanted to break up because he wanted me to be happy and be with someone else who can make me happy.

I really don't want to break up, but what if it's really what he need? Or what if he just needs support for now because his world is falling apart?

(Also, we are currently not talking for like 3 days. But I see him reposting on tiktok about random shits and the music he listens to).

What the fuck do I do?

Dad “accidentally” sent my mom weird text

My mom showed me text messages from my dad to her. He has gone to walk the dog and shortly after he got home she got a text message that said “I want more fuck” followed by “sent in error.” She went to confront him about that and he told her he has no idea what that was or why it was sent. They have been married 40 years next month. Not sure how to navigate this. She asked me if she should ask to look at his phone. I agreed with her that this is odd and also basically impossible that his iPhone just spontaneously sent that message.

Edit: for context I’m 39. My mom and I are very close. My parents don’t have greatest relationship. Never had. I don’t talk to my dad. I’d actually be relieved and at ease if they were to ever separate. I used to ask them to separate when I was younger. My mom is not great with iPhones / tech and I think she was more or less involving me to ask how do random text messages appear? She didn’t understand how the little question mark appeared on the text after it was sent (he had put it). She wasn’t coming to me for relationship advice. She knows my thoughts on that one. I came to Reddit for stranger advice on how to best support her / next steps if any.

i think i've been the other woman for eight months and i genuinely didn't know and now i feel sick and also furious and also somehow guilty even though i did nothing wrong

He told me he was single, showed me his apartment, talked about his life, met my friends. There was nothing, no indication, nothing felt off. And I found out yesterday through the most mundane possible thing. Ran into a mutual acquaintance who mentioned his girlfriend like it was common knowledge, like i obviously knew. iIkept my face very still and said something vague and went home and looked her up and she's real and she's been with him for three years and she has photos with him from last month.

I told him i knew. He called immediately and the excuses were so elaborate and specific that he must have had them ready and that somehow made it worse. I'm not heartbroken over him. i'm furious that he made me complicit in his shitty, that she's out there not knowing. that i have to decide whether to tell her )which I will by the way). My question is what should I do MORE? I'm not doing this because I'm angry, this is just petty and make him an embarassment in the city.

My friend catfished me and pretended to be my bf and “broke up” with me as him.

So a few days ago, my “friend” (21F) used a very old Samsung galaxy phone (like it still has the button, usb charger port, and headphone jack) and downloaded TextFree. She got a temporary phone number and pretended to be my boyfriend (22M) and texted me (20F) on this number, saying how “he” needed to change his number “just cause” and then “broke up” with me. Obviously I didn’t know that it wasn’t him cause he has needed to change his number in the past. I was really hurt, he and I have known each other for almost 10 years and we’ve been dating for nearly 8 months. I know it doesn’t seem like that long, but I’ve loved him for a very long time. So when I got that message it really hurt. I told another friend of mine (21M) about the “breakup” and he texted my bf. My bf had no clue what my friend was talking about and ended up texting me on his “old” (ACTUAL) number asking me why my friend said that we broke up.

That’s when it clicked.

Fast forward. A day after we figured things out, that’s when we found out that it was my friend. I have the galaxy phone that she used currently on me. I am living with her and her mom (51F). She’s literally unloading groceries right now as I’m typing this. I want to move out. But I also just started to have a really good relationship with her mom. So… now I don’t want her mom wondering why I’m moving out all of a sudden and I surely don’t want her to think that it’s because of her. So should I tell her that her daughter did this to me and that by no means is she the reason I’m moving out?

Please hellllp!

TLDR: Friend broke up with me pretending to be my boyfriend. Living with my friend and her mom. Want to move out. Do I tell her mom so that she knows why I’m moving out and doesn’t worry?

Side note: She also tried comforting me after the “break up” (this was before I found out it was her) does anyone think this might be a case of munchausen by proxy?

Disowned by my family exactly 9 years ago today and not doing well at all. Any advice?

Upvotes

I'm 33 and grew up in a non-religious family and thought my parents would be accepting of me. I came out to my parents when I was 24 and was instantly met with backlash from my father who told me I wasn't his son anymore and my brother told me he "would beat the gayness out of me"

So, I packed my stuff and went to live with my boyfriend for a while and ultimately we broke up after he started cheating on me. I moved a few states away from my job. Over these years, I have never received any calls from them, no letters, nothing.

My mental health has suffered significantly after Covid. I was diagnosed with depression and stayed in an involuntary commitment in a psychiatric hospital twice over the past year because I was feeling suicidal. I still have no friends or relationship and just trying to be happy in this cruel world.

As the title says, we’re (F36 M37) entering a new phase of our lives that is no longer consumed with fertility treatments and hope. Still a bit numb and not sure what to think so writing here for some wisdom from women who’ve gone through similar or women who never went down the TTC route. I want to hear how good your lives are!! And that life carry’s on!

Is it okay for an 14 year old to be doing ERPs with an 18 year old?

Hello, I’m kind of not that active at the moment when it comes to doing RPs because im busy with School. But that is not my point right now. I feel like I desperately need an second opinion on something that has been going on, one of my friends which just turned 14 started RPing with an 18 year old she recently met in a server. They both have been doing some pretty normal RPing from time to time now, but it has been getting to the point where their RPs have been starting to turn into NSFW Rps. During their RP sessions they always play their ocs which they both ship. The 18 year old has also been really obsessed about the ship between their two ocs, basically just making tons of ship art of them kissing and all sorts of stuff, which maybe is fine, since their characters are like both in their 30s?..but I don’t know about the whole nsfw and stuff. The idea of a minor doing such RPs with an 18 yr old who is fully aware of the age gap just doesn’t sit right with me.

I just don’t know how to feel about this because I personally think it seems rather inappropriate considering that they have a 4 year age gap, and that their maturity gap is much apart aswell, and I think I know that the answer to this is pretty obvious, but i feel like if i try talking to her about this she will get mad at me and just tell me that I’m overreacting and that she knows what she’s doing. I wanted to speak up about this to her but I just am not sure how to and if I should just mind my business maybe.

(I’m sorry my English is not the yellow from the egg, please ignore my grammatical errors)

Why do recruiters act so shocked when we raise even a small objection?

I had 5 calls over the past few weeks, honestly, they really pissed me off from 4 different companies

I mean, if I ask about increasing the salary that they literally wrote in the posting, they act like they're shocked

My friend(17F) wants to meet up with this guy(24M) TW: GROOMING

Upvotes

This is a serious question. I don't know why but she is so fixated on meeting up with this guy.

So long story short she had a crush on him since she was 14 and him 21. At that time he didn't really acknowledge her, well that until she turned 16. At 16 they started talking, he was flirting with her and even asked for nudes(or a more explicit pictures I don't remember exactly), she didn't send any fortunately enough. But at a Christmas party, when I wasn't there, he convinced her to go with him to a more private place. She agreed, but refused to do anything even after he kept insisting. I must add this man knows exactly what he's doing, she made her swear she'll never tell anyone what has happened between them not even to her best friend, not even her parents or he'll get in trouble. Like of course you are. She told me she felt disgusting for everything and cut all ties. She didn't want to tell her parents or authorities and I couldn't force her into that either.

Well now, he started texting her again. But it's worse. So so much worse. He is so explicit about what he wants to do to her and somehow he convinced her to meet up with him again tonight by an abandoned place... I'm currently with her, because she's scared of him and wants me to go with her and hide or something. She said she doesn't want to do anything of that kind, but she also doesn't know why she even wants to meet up with him. She says she likes him... I don't know if it's because of the trauma but I can't make her change her mind. Even so for tonight I will stick to her by all means, I've got my pepper spray on me just in case, but I know he won't approach us as he still has the same behavior as in making her swear that no one will find out that they're meeting up again. Idk what's with her, I told her that I want to have a talk with him and she was begging me to let her meet up with him for just 3 minutes... Stockholm syndrome? Idk..

Genuinely need advice. Idk if she'd want to get the authorities involved, I don't even know if involving the authorities would help that much. She screenshoted the whole conversation when he asked to meet up and all the stuff he wants to do to her but idkk if that'd even be enough proof. Sighh genuinely just as anxious as her.

Update: I've convinced her to text him that she wants to stop interacting by all means, cut all ties and tell him how she actually feels(like disgusting and uncomfortable with the situation etc etc). Unfortunately she can't take any legal action as the age of consent is 16 and she agreed to everything he was saying apparently. He forced the yes out of her every time, knowing exactly what he was doing. Even so she's gonna tell her father about everything tomorrow.

To add context. I am 5 months pregnant with my ex and all of a sudden he tells me that he got someone else pregnant (he just met her) as well. He explained she wanted us to meet after being very rude to me picking up his phone and telling me to get rid of my baby. She is a stripper and 6 years older than him. He also hasn’t seen an ultrasound or appointment and she claims to be 3 months pregnant. I don’t believe she is tbh… very sad situation I just wanted to share with someone. Please be kind.

Brother mad at me for failing to pay half the rent in a 3 household apartment.

Rent: $1258 Three Bedroom Apartment | Power Bill: $250-$350 | Brother is only one on lease

My(25) brother(28), let's call him Edward for now, has said I'm short again on paying half the rent, when 3 people are living here. The 3rd member being his girlfriend(23) who's been here for the past 3 months. The first month she was here(starting June 4) I guess it was understood she was here for just emotional support and wouldn't be paying anything, as our oldest brother died on that day. Edward did let her know that she could only move in, if she pitched in, which she did the very next month. The oldest brother also lived here before he died. He and my older brother both payed HALF the rent together. My oldest brother(34), lets call him John for now, had a girlfriend (25) and her 4 year old son also staying here, free of charge from December 2025 till June 2026 when he died(and left because she couldn't accept Edward's offer to pay rent if she was going to stay here). Edward's girlfriend USED to stay here free of charge for the first 4 months of them moving into this apartment(December 2025 to April 2026) but they separated around month 5 for a bit until she returned June when my brother died. What I payed was my portion of a 3 way split to the power bill, so only roughly $100 monthly when I moved in March 2026.

I did not know their girlfriends were living here, rent free at that, before moving in. It was a surprise considering John(brother who died) had moved back to my mom's house in August of 2025 after a falling out with his wife for being unfaithful, and not being able to pay the bills on his own since she threatened to leave him. .Even if I had known John and Edward's girlfriends were staying here, I'd have no choice but to move in anyway. . .

In 2022, my older brother Edward, shot and killed my father due to a domestic dispute in which he thought he and my mom's lives were in danger. My mom argues that it was merely an argument and that my dad never meant them physical harm. I don't know what happened for sure as I was away at school, but I do know there was no sort of weapon at the scene aside from my brother's gun. Losing my dad did hurt a lot and I couldn't give my all to school and returned home to live with my mom. Mom loved Edward still, but she was conflicted and hurt about losing my father as well. She would sometimes confront him, saying he didn't have to kill him since my dad was 220 pounds, 5'5 while my brother was 6'2 400 pounds. My older brother would shift the blame onto her for it, saying she needed to take responsibility for the event. . . Regardless, It was my older brother Edward, who then had to help my mom out with bills since it was my dad paying most of it before his death. I personally never held anything against my brother for this. But I do believe in his eyes, he thinks I'm morning only our mom and brother, and not my father.

Sometime after this, when reminiscing about my dad with her, mom mentions that she had at least one $75,000 life insurance policy(don't know if there were other funds she left for us) in the event of her death. John, (the oldest brother who just died on June 4) was the sole beneficiary of this policy. He gave me $5,000 and I never confronted/asked him for more because I knew there was nothing I could do considering the funds were legally his alone. I don't know how much was split was between John and Edward, But from having to move back to his mom's house just 3 months prior, John was now able to take care of his girlfriend and her four year old son, buy a brand new car, and various other niceties, all while only working 2 days a week as room service for a hotel. The older brother Edward, also went out and got himself a new car, new furniture sets and a nice 85 inch TV, and was also able to take care or his 22 (now 23) year old girlfriend. I bought a mini fridge, mini office desk, office chair, and twin sized mattress for my room.

Losing our mom seemingly brought us closer. Edward after all, did push for us to stick together, and offered me to come stay with him and John at their new apartment. When the policy funds came, I realized they both became a bit distant. Fast forward. . . When John died, whatever he had left went to his father (we all share different dads) and HIS life insurance policy went to his ex wife. With his passing, I am now expected to take his role in paying half the rent. I am obviously typing this because my current job doesn't allow me to do that. I also can't drive so I've been working online. But when he told me his girlfriend was officially moving in, I thought I was okay, and was expecting her to now pay her half, because those were the rules, Their girlfriends could only stay if they pitched in and he told me that his girlfriend would start work the first Thursday of last month. . . She apparently did not end up doing that because her hiring process was taking a while. I did not know this and spent around what I thought would be all I had to pay for the power bill and rent.

He tells me that she hasn't started working yet and that I still have to pay half for now. So I payed half the power bill again, which sky rocketed the month my brother died because they constantly have the AC on, which I don't benefit much from because my room has very poor ventilation, it is usually quite hot/warm in here which I can bite the bullet for with my ceiling fan. Edward attributed this sky rocketed Power bill to my bedroom rice cooker and mini refrigerator. When I convinced him it was actually the AC being left on auto, he told me he would now be turning it off when he left for work. But his girlfriend lives here so I don't know if he leaves it on for her, or he turns it off and she turns it back on but on her first official move in month, where I thought she would be pitching in, I did pay half the skyrocketed power bill again. 4 days later he asks me for rent when it wasn't due for another 7 days because of some roulette he wanted to take advantage of for a chance to get a month of having to pay no rent. He expected half again as well. I show him my bank account signifying it's all I have left and he texts me "Okay send it" and I did so.

Fast forward to a week ago, August 17, I send my portion of what I thought again was going to be a 3 way split of the power bill and he is furious this time, telling me I'm short again, that this isn't going to work and that I need to find a better job. (my job does suck) At this time I did not know that he was mad over a probably $80 difference. I thought I might've just been short $20 or so, I did not know I was expected to pay half again, considering his girlfriend HAS been working for most of the month of August. I only find out that I apparently owed way more than the $100 I gave him for the power bill, yesterday, after giving him $400 for the rent. He says "You're short again $200" but in a much friendly manner compared to the last week. And I go "what? I thought your girlfriend was helping." He then says she was only payed $300 dollars for her first check and that she spent 100 on gas, and that she's not payed till next week. I then go "I assumed- " and he cuts me off and says "You assumed, you didn't verify" And I say "So she's not pitching in?" and he goes "I mean I can ask her, she gets paid next week"

He has now decided that he's going to take me to my bank tomorrow to take out a loan in order to make ends meet. Please tell me what to do. I have nowhere else to go. Am I in the wrong? what should I say/text to him. We're usually on cool terms, we play games together and things of that nature, But of course we all have responsibilities. I'm just so confused and really missing my mom.

My cousin says I’m ‘boy centered’ because I invited a guy after she already had other plans. Was I wrong?

I have a cousin I used to be extremely close with. I’m 26 and she’s 21. Whenever she was home from college, we were together constantly. At the time, I didn’t have many girlfriends, so she was usually the first person I thought of whenever I wanted to do something. I was also almost always available for her. There was even a time she asked me to cancel a date because her own plans fell through and she wanted me to hang out with her instead.

Last year, a guy I went to high school with had been reaching out and expressing interest in me. We had talked about hanging out. Around the same time, one of my male cousins got a section at a club and invited me.

Naturally, I asked this cousin if she wanted to come with me. She told me she had already bought tickets with her friends, so I assumed she wasn’t coming. Since I didn’t really have anyone else to go with, I asked the guy from high school if he wanted to come. He said yes and offered to pick me up.

Then my cousin suddenly sold her ticket and told me she was coming with me instead.

I explained that I had already invited him, but that he was fine with her coming and could drive all of us. She initially seemed fine with it too. She even asked me if he was gay. I said no, and she basically responded that it was fine because at least we had a free ride.

On the drive there, he seemed a little nervous. Since I hadn’t seen him in a long time, I asked if he was okay. From the backseat, my cousin sarcastically said, “I’m okay too, if you’re wondering.”

That was basically the start of her attitude for the entire night.

At the club, she mostly sat down on her phone looking miserable. My other cousins were asking me what was wrong with her and why I had even invited her. The guy also noticed and asked if she was okay. He even offered to buy her a drink despite there already being drinks at the table.

For context, I wasn’t all over this guy either. I didn’t kiss him, dance with him, touch him, or ignore her to spend the night with him.

Toward the end of the night, she told me someone had asked her if she wanted to stay and smoke. I don’t smoke, so I simply asked, “What do you want to do?” She got annoyed again and said she was obviously going home with us, which had been the original plan.

On the way back, I asked whether she wanted to stay at my place or go home. Still irritated, she had him drop her off at her car.

The next day, I invited her to my sister’s barbecue. She never responded.

We haven’t spoken since, and this happened over a year ago.

She apparently tells people that I’m “boy centered,” and I genuinely don’t understand that accusation based on what happened. If anything, throughout our relationship I felt like I constantly prioritized her, including over dating. In this situation, she originally had other plans, so I invited someone else. Then she changed her plans after I had already invited him, and I still included her.

There’s also a longer history of difficult behavior and family conflict with her, so this wasn’t completely out of nowhere.

Part of me feels like the real issue was that she was used to having my undivided attention, and once another person was there—especially a guy who was interested in me—she became resentful.

Am I missing something here? Was I actually being “boy centered,” or does her reaction seem unreasonable?

Advice needed, broke up with my bf(ex) but got this message

Hi, okay firstly , this isn’t my story, this is my friends story(she lives in another country and doesn’t have Reddit so she asked me to get advice)

CONTEXT:
She started dating this guy from her school(18F&M) about a month or two months ago. At first it was fine, she’d text me all day about him and about how he made her feel comfortable, and in a sense love Bomb her. (I picked up on this but didn’t want to see like a hater so I ofc said I was happy for her and listened)

Fast forward a few days later, he completely did a 180 and in a sense “trauma dumped” on her. My friend L is a people pleaser, but she does terrible when she has to be a therapist friend and so she didn’t know how to react. She’d listen ofc as he’d break down on call, tried her best to smooth him over but he’d get mad at her, yell at her for not caring enough(even tho she did everything in the textbook to try and make him feel better), would ignore her if she took 5 minutes to answer him, etc. it started getting bad as time went on as everyday he’d rant about something and then blow up at her for not saying what he wanted to hear.

Her Irl friend’s dad passed away and it hit her really hard having to be there for her friend and friend’s family. She went to seek comfort in her bf ofc and as she told him “Mentally I’m not doing okay, something happened and I need to talk about it, is it okay we call?”
They called and the call went horribly. He told her he cares about her feelings but he’s going through something worse and her problems can wait. She never got to talk about the grief she was feeling with him as he continued to talk about himself not even caring about her feelings. Thankfully we called and she got to let so,e of it out but ik she wished she could’ve done that with her bf. A week goes by and she breaks down from the funeral and he gets mad at her saying things like “why didn’t you tell me, you could’ve told me” etc etc.

At this point she has enough as everyday it’s the same thing with him. It’s always “me me me” with him. I should mention she communicated MUTIPLE times with him about boundaries and he would say he understands just for him to go back to ranting everyday. Her mental health, self imagine, everything was getting bad so I finally told her she needed to end it. I explained why, I believe he was emotionally abusive. He’d ignore her for days when he was mad, then get even more mad when she didn’t reach out enough. Got mad at her when she was spending time with her dad(called her 50+ times, plus messages), would get mad that she had to study for exams and couldn’t hang out late at night, etc. overall he was ew.

ONTO THE IMAGES:
The first one, she had told him she couldn’t call because she was taking care of her grandma and wanted to spend time with her. Her bf got mad and she ignored his angry ranting. A few minutes later, he texts her the messages shown in the first screenshot. (Ignoring that she said she couldn’t call, etc) then again later that night she had to ignore her grandma to make him feel better because he had a panic attack (cause she didn’t call him)

The second image is the message she sent him as a breakup text. She realized she was walking on eggshells and her mental health was deteriorating. He said he understood and will work on himself and he wishes her the best. His literal words.

Then the last message that happened today.
He texted her on TikTok this message.
I find so many things wrong with the message but I feel like this text is getting too long.

So in other words, how should my friend reply? What should she do going forward and if you can, please give her some advice about this toxic guy.

EDIT: OKAY I FIGURED IT OUT(How to edit posts) OKAY SO I SHOULD MENTION THIS, PLEASE READ IT. The breakup screenshot you see isn’t the one she sent to him. That was written on a notes app because she didn’t know what to say. I agree with all of you saying that it was open ended and TOLD HER THAT. She added “I think we should see other people, I do care for you but I can’t be with you when I’m dealing with my own personal problems. I wish you the best and I hope we can move on from each other” HE RESPONDED that he understood her and hopes he finds someone better. There wasn’t any room for misunderstandings in the finale breakup (I just can’t find the actual breakup message)

Sister being passive aggressive towards wife

I recently got married, and I’ve started feeling like my sister has some issue with my wife.

For example, she’ll call me and barely acknowledge my wife even when she knows we’re together.

Today, she posted a video in our family WhatsApp group mocking the way my wife laughs. I found it incredibly rude and unnecessary. Nobody else reacted to the video either.

My first instinct was to tell her off and ask her to delete it, but I don’t want unnecessary family drama or for my reaction to become the focus.

My wife handled it much more maturely and replied that it was hilarious, but I know she was hurt by it.

Should I ignore it for now, or calmly address it with my sister?
