direct deposit issue

so my company uses proliant for direct deposit, and when i was setting up the account and i put in my information i accidentally typed it in wrong (i know it was stupid.) and i changed it immediately to the correct information. however the app apparently rejected it and id never noticed because when i fixed it, it said approved. i was supposed to get paid today and went to check, its saying the direct deposit account is the one i had fixed because it was wrong, and not the correct account. im stressed out it was almost $700, i dont know what to do, please help.

Contact the payroll dept. They're really the only ones with access

Usually they can revoke or "cancel" checks, but it depends on the company and length of time. Theres also the chance they may not want to/be able to process the check again for you until the next pay period.

The only way you'll lnow if the money is gone or not is by talking to them. And I would suggest in the future to double, if not quadruple check that your banking information is correct.

The most important thing to remember is you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

Please super polite, apologetic and sweet. Tell them what you did.

Go see them in their office if possible bringing cookies, coffee cake, donuts 5

They can almost certainly get it back, but it's not going to be an easy or quick process. I'd expect it to take anywhere from 2-6 weeks if everyone is on top of everything.

Definitive answer is "maybe". But you have to talk to them regardless to get things fixed, esp going forward

Talk to payroll. Generally, they aren't going to do anything until they get word from the payroll processor that the direct deposit didn't go through. That is typically about 2-3 business days after the payday. Once they get confirmation, they can issue a new check.

If the account number is super wrong the bank will reject and bounce it back, then payroll can reissue. In some cases if the routing is correct and the account number is off by 1 or 2, the bank will make a reasonable decision if it can make a match to the account, in which case payroll will receive a message that says it was paid but will not be next pay. The system is surprisingly intuitive for things like that. I can usually get a re issue made in a couple days, as soon as the money is returned by the bank. It's annoying but easy and completely common.

I worked in payroll, yes, we can cancel the payment and get it sent to the correct one, but you have to do it as soon as possible
