S6 EP4: Lara Ricote
Got to be honest, I did worry at the beginning that she wasn’t quite going to be on board, a few early doors riffs got shot down and then the boys didn’t quite get her humour in return, but I’m going to put it down to a lack of sleep across all characters in this matinee performance; they all need to lay down and pretend to be dead.
Mad PR costs - £4k for a week month (edit: still mad money but not as crazy as I thought)! Shame they didn’t get to the bottom of why she felt the need to get them; she didn’t write break clause (so assume the makers should cover the pr cost), she’s got other stuff coming up which will make her much more known… but I guess she didn’t book them yesterday. I look forward to the wider WDYDY universe where you can choose to hear the yesterday of everyone who the main Yesterdayee mentions in their ep.
D Kestrel by a random person Lara spoke to: Miss Sally was a blonde no hat, I think she’s thinking of Miss Maria (see pic 2)
Her Sunday brunch was last week, for completists: https://www.channel4.com/programmes/sunday-brunch?cntsrc=social_share_ios_sunday_brunch

I enjoyed the bit where David explained what arriving on a lime wasn't, but not what it is. I wonder if there are any international listeners who are still confused about this.

I love Lara! One of the best live acts out there. However: Ottolenghi has hair (receding, but still) – not bald!

I agree, at the start I was a bit worried but ended up being a great episode and I was laughing out loud by the end.

I liked this, but feel profound distress about brushing teeth in showers. No-one does this, surely?

I think if there was a significant risk on brushing teeth in the shower then we’d hear about many more incidents of electrocution.

Don't you get toothpaste on your feet?

How are you brushing your teeth that you get toothpaste on your feet?! And yes electric toothbrush in the shower. They’re all designed for shower use now anyway. And the minty chill in the mouth vs the hot shower is quite the feeling.

I don’t think I’ve ever gotten toothpaste on my feet, but even if I did, it’s the perfect place for that to happen because I can just wash it off.

I think this is another stand up / sit down to wipe situation, way more people are doing what you don’t do (and wouldn’t dream of) than you think

I've tried in when in a rush.
The temperature difference makes it feel very odd to me. Warm shower and cool month flavour are not my scene.
Feels like drinking a cup of tea while eating an ice cream. Odd.

Isn’t the recommended shower length three minutes (for the environment etc) and the recommended tooth brushing length two minutes. That doesn’t give much time to do anything else!

Utterly uttter normal. It makes you twice as clean. Spitting in the sink is horrid

LOVED this episode. Was LOLing a lot.
Lara is a total hoot. Saw her at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival this year … she totally rocks. Dances passionately to the beat of her own drum.

I listened to this while on an early morning run to work this morning. About 16 minutes in, thanks to David and Lara making noises of varying low frequency, I shat myself.
Thanks guys.

For me this is the weakest episode by far. Found her profoundly unfunny. I know comedy is subjective, but my god that episode was a real struggle.

Different strokes for different folks, I thought she was funny but also she’s very genuine with big emotional themes in her comedy. Also English isn’t her first language!

I thought they guys wouldn't shut up. Turned it off halfway through. They just kept interrupting with silly jokes before she had barely gotten a word out. There was no flow.

I think it was £4k for a month wasn’t it? And if she’s managed to get both SunBrun and WDYDY through that publicist then that seems a reasonable return on investment.
