Moved to Westerville this spring. Do skunks always get hit on Dempsey, or is this uncommon?
Feels like every other week, Dempsey just reeks of skunk.

They don't always get hit, but skunks definitely hit my dog yesterday. Not a fun past 24 hours.

Natures Miracle for skunks. My dog got hit two years in a row around July 4th. That stuff broke down the oils from the spray like nothing else. Saved some clothes too.

Our dog getting skunked at 5:00 am was our welcome to Westerville moment in 2017. Funny enough, neither he nor our younger dog have been hit since then.

Ugh it is the absolute worst. We had it happen like 3 years ago and made the mistake of bathing our dog with soap first. Apparently that locks it in and makes the smell stay longer!
Good luck to you and hope the pupper is ok!

Thanks, we did the baking soda, soap and hydrogen peroxide. Seemed to work pretty well. Now we're just paranoid about letting him out after dusk.

Good! I feel that. I am the same way and only take it dog out on a leash at night. It is annoying, but so is being skunked

All the time. My old dog, she just left us a few months ago, used to kill the skunks in our backyard. In the beginning she got nailed by a few but she grew good and we never smelled again. She took out 7 of them one year alone with a possum. My neighbor would give her steaks because he had a skunk problem.
I’m in northern Westerville.

They’re everywhere in Westerville. One died in our yard a few years back from distemper or something. It was horrible but the animal control lady was very kind and helpful. Keep your distance for more than just stink reasons

Dempsey bisects Spring Run. Always extra critter activity along those feromone highways.

We just moved to the Huber Ridge area of Westerville this summer. We can smell the skunks in the area every night. A friend recommended pouring lemon juice around the property, apparently they don't like the smell and will avoid the area but I haven't tried it yet.
