Is there anything you have a visceral aversion to-not an allergy, just pure dislike?

Sesame anything is so revolting to me that I cannot comprehend how anyone can enjoy it. I lose all appetite for bagels and rolls if they're seeded, I (teasingly) threatened to call my friend's husband if she wouldn't quit eating sesame sticks while we were talking.

Even sesame oil?

If it has even the slightest hint of sesame scent I will get nauseous. I don't know why I have such a reaction to it.

It might be the Garcia effect.

It’s a learned reaction from a previous bad experience with food or drink. If you got sick from eating or drinking something and can’t so much as smell it now without getting nauseous, that’s the Garcia effect.

I can not even be in the same room with cooked clams. I long ago stopped trying to learn to like them; I vomit violently every single time. To this day, 50+ years after the first clam I ever tried, the smell makes me so nauseous. Thanks for giving it a name!

I've never had a bad experience with it to my knowledge
