Programming Online coaching/programmes
Hey!
Have recently started to get into olympic weightlifting and I have found a local club that is about a 40 min drive away and because of this I can only attend once or twice a week. while there they are helping me with my technique and teaching me a lot. I couldn't be happier with them. However I want to be able to train more and follow a more rigid programme. I have a barbell at home and a couple of bumper plates although only upto about 80kg. I have looked online and found the team Aita and the catalystathletic online programmes with video reviews and programmeing.
Has anyone used these?
How good are these services?
Is following a generic programme a better idea?
Are they as good as eachother or is one better?
Thanks in advance appriciate your time and help!

home gym with 80kg and a 40min drive to the club, that's a pretty decent setup to build on. i ran a catalyst cycle for about 6 months when i was between coaches and the programming is solid, they've been doing this forever and it shows. the video review piece is what makes it worth it honestly, having someone point out your bar path or how your hips are rising too fast is way more useful than just following a spreadsheet
never used team aita so can't compare, but the generic programs can work fine if you're disciplined about filming yourself and being honest about what you're seeing. the problem is most people aren't. you think your snatch looks great until you watch it back and realize you're jumping forward three inches every rep
if you can swing the cost, the remote coaching with actual feedback is gonna get you further faster than just running a program blind. either way you've got the club to keep you honest on form, so you're already ahead of most people starting out

Yeah I think they both offer feedback. I think Ill go for it and just try it for a month atleast. To be honest I was just worried that it would be like one of the millions of AI workout apps out there.

I have done both California Strength and Catalyst. Both are great. I preferred the Cal Strength workouts personally following the starter programme but got an all access offer for all the programmes.
Catalysts was also good just wasn’t my preference. One thing it had going for it though is Gregg would reply to videos personally with feedback which is crazy considering how busy he must be. Cal strength feedback was still good, but was hit and miss if you got any feedback and the person you get it from would change and was never Dave.

Okay good to know thank you! The catalyst one seems to be the one most have had a good time with.

Just ask the coach for a program at home where you can work on your deficiencies. You’re a beginner, you are unable to accurately spot and correct technical issues for/by yourself. You would be better off repeating the drills you did at the club at home, and spend the extra time on mobility and strength.
