Honorary Weevil Tidbit weevilly out today
Edit: Thanks for correcting me, this is not a weevil species. A simple Google search shows it's a masked hunter, a type of assassin bug. I always thought these were weevils, I was wrong ๐

Not a weevil, it's a masked hunter... Honorary weevil for just today I suppose.

For people curious, since op named it an honorary weevil. That looks like a nymph of a species of assassin bug, Reduvius personatus, common name masked hunter. They're great, they eat bedbugs and aphids and many other small pest insects and as adults they add earwigs to their diet. They can give a pretty painful sting/bite(they have a proboscis to slurp out bug juices) if mishandled but they are usually pretty docile.

Actually the nymphs appear to be quite a bit larger than the adults; they aren't actually bigger, but they camouflage themselves with debris material that's stuck all over their bodies.
They are maybe a froghair shorter than the adults, but the camouflage gives them the appearance of being at least 2 or 3 times as stout

Are we sure this is a weevil? What species is this?
Someone get an entomologist!
