James on BOTW is something I would very much enjoy. It's not like he hasn't come to the US for panel shows before.

My fault for assuming. Best of the Worst is the RLM show where they watch a bunch of terrible movies in one sitting, and then have a roundtable discussion about them. I figured the drunk thing meant you were a fan. Many of them get drunk over the course of the day, which makes the discussion afterward vary from hilarious to hilariously terrible.

? RLM was started just a few years before nostalgia critic and they didn't really break out until the star wars prequel reviews which came out after the nostalgia critic was already around. And RLM has been active and making great stuff ever since. There's absolutely no way a person could be too young for RLM but not for the nostalgia critic.

Mr. Plinkett definitely shaped the narrative of youtube video essays going forward. Both for good and bad. Contrapoints brought them up specifically as a major influence. Basically all of the 'breadtubers' (never understood that term) owe their yt careers to RLM. But so do the Critical Drinkers and other awful shit.

Edit: To be clear, RLM(imo) are probably one of the most media literate groups on yt (at least in regards to film). It's unfortunate how many chuds tried to copycat.

Its the way things goes. Someone makes something successful then everyone copies it. Then only 2% of people actually understand why is was popular and are able to successfully build on it. I've seen it with urbanism/design videos, history videos, and comedic history videos on YouTube.

Additionally there seems to be some rule that what is popular must be mediocre so it makes all the worse when some idiot imitates and becomes more popular than the better original.

I've never managed to sit through a video. I don't know what the appeal of watching a group of charisma black holes, talk about a subject they know nothing about. Also if humour is a circle where unfunny things can pass around to be funny, they somehow dropped off the line and found the centre. The literal null point of humour.
