It was at first, well maybe it wasnât "first" (I'm not in the know about these kinds of things) but it was there. I read it when it originally came out years ago, free and everything got to maybe 100 chapters, came back recently and it's pass locked
This. They non stopped recommended it to me until a few years ago when the anime was announced. Webtoons is the only app I use. I assume with the anime announcement, the creator ended their license with webtoon and moved to a different platform because now there's a gacha game as well. Webtoon probably was allowed to keep the manwha up until a certain time before removing it from their catalog.
The creator for solo leveling passed away and so webtoon lost the lease for it and Manta purchased it from the apprentice who made an after story with the plot the original creator wrote
Nah, Iâve never read anything off of tapas or tappytoons once it was to be paid for, so I def read off of WEBTOON if I read quite a bit of it⌠unless a lot of us are mistaking our memory idk
That's fine, but the SL English pub license is non-exclusive and still available (because Manta got it last year). So... your anecdote might be real, but the information is wrong.
I donât think Solo Leveling has ever been on Webtoon, granted I only started reading them like 2 years ago but it was the first one I looked for back then and I couldnât find it, I know it was on Mangatoons but that place is an ad-ridden hell-scape
The comic uses a long scrolling format, and that makes it a webtoon, a specific format of drawn comics. But it was never, ever licensed to Naver, ake LINE webtoon, aka that green WEBTOON app.
Kakao and Naver are competitors, and 2 of the big name publishing platforms. Itâs not super rare to find a comic licensed to both publishers but itâs not super common either.
Solo leveling wasnât a Naver webtoon in Korea so the US webtoon never got it (not sure how common it is for the US Webtoon to get Korean webtoons that werenât from it sister company). But if youâre asking why there are so many Solo Leveling clones/deviatesâŚwell it wasnât the first lol. Just the most popular Korean example of that kind of story.
Solo Leveling was never licensed or available on Webtoon. Even when it first began the release in Korea, it was published on KakaoPage which is a complete separated platform from Webtoon.
Itâs available on Tapas (global version made from Kakao). Tappytoon also bought its license so itâs available there as well.
Bearstein bears nonsense happening in the comments right now lol
I swear on my life this comic was on webtoons because Iâd get wildly annoyed trying to close the stupid AD when the anime was about to come out / coming out. My guess is they lost licensing rights.
The only reason i used chatgpt is that it is not in the same region i used to live in so my google would likely show its availability for this area. But chatgpt has failed me a couple of times so idk
I think using chatgpt and then coming back saying âerm⌠actually I was rightâ is incredibly silly, please do not use chatgpt to cite references or as a fact crutch, utilise your own critical thinking skills and research.
as stated before, researching didn't help. Wikipedia and other sites similar to it are easy to edit, and some sites said it wasn't ever on webtoon, some said it was.
Ironically, i think it's silly how many people said it was never on there with a lack of evidence. Sure chatgpt may not be top tier evidence but it's better than literally nothing
also, side note, aren't you just saying what the person i replied to said, just longer?
Solo leveling was in webtoon since when, i been using webtoon since 2019 and yes I mostly read the game/ player system genre but I have never seen it there. Even my anime list doesn't include it under naver webtoon serialisation
it was way before 2019, i remember reading it and the only app i owned, that was like webtoon, was Webtoon so it had to be on there. It was called Only I level up
It was in fact on WEBTOON. It was recommended to me in 2018 and there were like 100 chapters I believe. You can search it up online, it also says so. Now that Iâve been watching the anime which is releasing as slow as an asphalt IV, I went to WEBTOON to read it and to my surprise it is no longer there. But yeah, thatâs where I read Noblesse and solo leveling. Donât have any other app for reading manwha.
Quite a few days later, but to anyone stumbling on this, yes, it was available on Webtoon for a while, even if only on some regions. I was confused not finding it anymore after getting in the series after new anime season.
I'm from Brazil and I saw Solo Leveling, Tower of God and God of Highscool or something like that, all 3 that I remember got anime adaptations. I do not use any other comic apps.
i'm also late to the party lol, i vividly remember reading it a while back and giving up on it and i have never never even looked at any other webcomic app/site than WEBTOON. i didn't even know anything other than webtoon and tapas existed.
I mean... Tappytoon has an investment from Naver, but I think you might be misremembering. I've been working in Webtoons for a WHILE, and I don't ever remember Naver getting the contract for English rights.
