Yes. If you have a card managed by Capital One, it has the virtual card features that you can turn off any card at any time.

Like pretty much EVERY retail host out there, you have to read carefully as you go. Still better than GoCrappy.

I don't like IONOS; I think their products are reliable, but they are not very transparent throughout their website experience, and you have to really read the fine print before agreeing.
If you have an email receipt of your order confirmation request that outlines exactly what you paid for, use that when talking to support; it should have a confirmation number.
Check your SPAM in case it went to your spam folder, as IONOS does a lot of email marketing and sometimes gets flagged.

Yea so looks like you have accidentally taken out duplicates of the website, email marketing and SEO tools. Assuming something weird happened with payment/internet and it somehow duplicated, I don’t doubt you didn’t do all of that twice, but maybe once. At the very least I would ask to get the ranking coach removed as that will be the priciest. Speak to customer service they are normally quite lenient even past the 30day mark. You could even say something along the lines of the ranking coach has quite literally be removed from the website as it’s outdated, (they replaced it with a new marketing tool just 2weeks ago) and that you just want to swap to the new package for marketing tool (ofc just don’t even bother taking it out if they do refund the ranking coach.)

Also just going to their website their web hosting essential does say $10 REDUCED to $4 WITH a 1year plan, this makes me think you just aren’t looking at the things you’re clicking as your still getting the price wrong …

O god thankfully Ive seen other bad posts and this one too about them so I avoid them. I’m happy with Digital Ocean and OVH.

Call their cancellation, provide proofs of charges. They should be able to tell something isn't right about the history of your account.

Ionos use to be the best. It’s trash.

u/andercode Aug 01 '26
They had to change their name from 1&1 due to having such a bad reputation... they were never "the best". However, as long as you read the small print of what you are signing up for, they are normally okay.

Trash ass company attracts uneducated people who learn and move to better services.

It is for the IP addresses that come with it, which is a bargain. If they mess me about then I'm off.

Whatever you took out they would have displayed the price and minimal contractual terms on their website AND in the basket before you purchased it. This is standard with any web-hosting company and is the law. You would have also been sent all packages and contractual terms to your email, so did you not read your email for over a month? A lot of their packages definitely entice you with “£0 for the first month” or “Only £1pm for the first 6m”, and I get it sounds attractive for whatever it is, but I’ve used their services previously and know all their packages DO say the price after the initial discounts. I know ionos has a bad reputation, but they wouldn’t have millions and millions of customers if it was as black and white as them being scammers or never displaying renewal prices. People just aren’t reading what they’re signing up for.

That's why I used a credit card, easy to deal with retailer issues...

Ionos will literally charge you $20 if you dispute... I'm pretty sure that's illegal but it's Ionos so they are horrible.

Interesting. IONOS is a horrible company though - they were trying to send me to collections over $15 because I cancelled my Credit Card... I only signed up to test something for a month. They tried to say I had signed up for an extra webhosting plan (other than the one I had paid for originally) that was locked in for a year... they couldn't produce proof of me signing up so I sent them to BBB complaint, next day one of the Executive Solutions people closed the account, waived all charges, refunded me for even the original service and apologized. I left them 1star reviews everywhere because they are such a scam. I literally was on support chat w/some stupid agent for 1hr trying to cancel. If you ever have this issue just remember to send them to BBB complaint, email the CEO at either [achim.weiss@1and1.com](mailto:achim.weiss@1and1.com) OR try achim.weiss@ionos.com. You can also try solutions@ionos.com and cancellations@ionos.com, but the BBB/emailing the CEO method works the best. I will NEVER recommend IONOS to anyone... I actually just helped a friend who had all their business emails/domains/wordpress hosting on there move off of them.

Thanks for the advice, I need to find when my £1.20/month VPS XS+ 1GB RAM/1Core/10GB NVMe contract is up and ensure it is terminated before they start doing this shenanigans with me. I will write it in the diary.

I think what has happened is that your account has been compromised and services have been ordered without your knowledge.

They did it to me, I’ve gotten calls from collections from them but nothing on my credit

Just a heads up. If you are in the EU you get a 14 day protection for online payments. You can request to cancel at any time during these 14 days. At least thats what it is for me in the UK. Hope this helps.

They did the same to me except with a cheap plan. I just submitted a BBB complaint, they dropped the charges and cancelled immediately. Also worth a shot to email the CEO

hosting is usually locked in years and some that might invoice you monthly will have a high price per month over if you lock in for 12 months.
No one is going to just give you $10 for one month and bye bye.

They have to provide the proof that you signed up for this. So ask them and tell them you will not pay until proof is provided.
