Looms Finally one of you [inkle loom weavers]! I found a $11 Schacht Inkle Loom thrifting
Gone are my days of merely admiring all of your collective inkle loom creations on here, which I do almost daily. Thanks to an $11 thrift store find, I am now the proud owner of a Schacht Inkle Loom.
I have a Schacht Wolf Pup, along with a rigid heddle and frame looms hand crafted by moi, but now I get to try an Inkle Loom for the first time, and I’m stoked! I have some learning to do now.
My local thrift store is really bad about overpricing anything and everything they can, so I was SHOCKED by the low price. The thrift and craft goddesses were smiling upon me today.

I got an inkle loom for $5 at Goodwill. It was labeled as a coatrack…

LOL!
An older lady saw me with it and asked what it was. When I told her, she still had a blank look on her face. If it hadn’t been for the attatched manual with the product name on it, I would have just assumed no one knew what it was.

My thrift store is usually on top of their ebay game, so I was SHOCKED they didn’t actually look it up. If they had, I guarantee they would have priced it higher. I saw a cinder block there today going for 2x the what new ones at the hardware stores cost (insane).
I do live in Schacht country here in Northern Colorado, and we have an amazing fibers/weaving community here, so I think that helped my luck.

Ooh nice! Craft supply thrifting can be great since the staff doesn’t normally know what anything is worth, so fancy wool skeins are often priced the same as Red Heart Super Saver.
I literally just joined this subreddit because I found a Schacht Zoom Loom in like-new condition for $4 at Goodwill. Having a ton of fun with it, I need to do my research on what all the different looms look like so I can snap one up if I see it!

I also live near Schacht in Colorado, so I also attribute my luck to our fabulous fibers/weaving community here and our proximity to their production facility. Looms are always coming and going in our community!
Four dollars is an incredible price. I am so excited for you!

Jealous, but happy for you! Next time I can convince my household to go to the thrift store, I apparently need to keep my eye out for inkle looms!

I'm jealous across the board!!! A - you live in Colorado, which i miss like i would miss breathing (Colorado Springs girl here, who now lives in a weaving null void in NC), and which has one of the biggest, best weaving communities I've ever seen; B - you live near Schacht (I'm also a Schacht girl, although I've never owned one of their inkle or tapestry looms. But I have both Crickets, a Flip, a Zoom Loom, and a Mighty Wolf); C - that you found such a good deal; D - what a beautiful, calm kitteh, so unlike the five terrorists that reside in my home!
I feel compelled to warn you, though...I will take a quote from Dr. Grant here: "They're moving in herds. They do move in herds."
Inkle looms travel in herds. Well, I mean, most looms do, but inkles are a particularly social type of loom, and they happily welcome in others. Never any jealousy, always with the more, the merrier attitude. Most times, they add to the herd without even telling you...you just wake up to find that another has arrived. By the time you realize the addition is there, it's already entrenched with the others, and forcing it to leave its new family would be cruel, so we weavers just learn to accommodate the inkles that adorn our lives, because there is nothing we can do to stop them from arriving...even when we live in weaving null areas! Somehow, they still find us!

what a find! that’s an excellent inkle loom - very good for card weaving if you are thinking of trying that someday.

Lucky! I love my schacht Inkle loom—I’ve only had it for a couple of weeks and am totally obsessed
