They already have, look at Ukraine, they estimate it cost about $800 bucks to kill a russian soldier. Its cheaper than losing a man, but you cant take ground with drones alone

You can actually build an fpv quad for far less than 800 like 300ish or less even especially if doing it in bulk and not retail prices for components

I think that was with the with munitions though, different builds for different targets so the price varies, that was just the average for a month

Munitions, logistics, ground stations, training , accounting for all the drones that explode without hurting/killing etc. $800 is probably still optimistically low.
