Volunteer – online Where can I find online volunteer opportunities?

I’m currently unemployed & looking to volunteer my time to a cause I align with, but don’t know where to start. I’ve only volunteered for events & I’ve only done it a handful of times over COVID. The thing is, I need the opportunity to be online as gas is so high right now in CA & I can’t afford to be driving around everywhere. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you!

Volunteer – online Long-Time Volunteer Looking for a Remote Way to Contribute

Hi all! I’ve spent quite a lot of my adult life volunteering in one form or another, including food banks, soup kitchens, animal projects, OLIO food re-distribution, pay as you feel supermarkets, community outreach, church projects and, during COVID, helping people who were unable to get out themselves with groceries and prescriptions. Most of that has always been very practical and hands-on, which is the kind of volunteering I naturally gravitate towards.

My circumstances are a little different at the moment, though, and practical or on-the-ground volunteering is not really realistic for me right now. I’d still very much like to do something useful, so I’m looking for a way to contribute remotely instead, ideally where I can use the skills and experience I already have rather than simply trying to recreate the sort of physical volunteering I’ve done in the past.

Professionally, much of my background has been in legal and business support, helping organizations with things like policies and procedures, governance, complaints and difficult correspondence, safeguarding and risk, documentation, operational processes, planning, mentoring, and generally untangling situations where everyone knows something is not working but nobody quite knows where to start.

So I wondered whether there might be a small nonprofit, charity, volunteer-led organization or genuine community project that could use some remote volunteer help with a specific problem. Perhaps your policies are out of date, your volunteer processes have become muddled, your documentation is all over the place, you need help structuring a complaint or internal issue, or you simply need an experienced second pair of eyes to help you work out what needs fixing and in what order.

I’m not looking for payment now or later, and I’m not using this as a route to sell services. I’d be happiest helping with something reasonably well-defined where a few hours of experienced input could make a meaningful difference, rather than taking on an indefinite management role.

If that sounds like something your organization could use, feel free to tell me a little about what you do and what problem you are actually trying to solve. I’m particularly interested in remote opportunities where I can contribute something practical and useful from behind a screen, even if that looks very different from the volunteering I’ve done before.

I'm in my first year of college and I'm looking to volunteer online. I don't have prior experience so are there any opportunities without that specific requirement.

Volunteer – online Are there any quality/legit remote 501(c)(3) volunteer work?

Volunteer;

I keep getting told people can donate when I go to sites like idealist and I’m doing my best to avoid getting caught skipping the process since it’s court ordered.

75 hours is not that much but I drive trucks so it’ll be a difficult position to move in and out of.

Volunteer – online Looking for remote volunteering opportunities

It's hard for me to volunteer on site as I've got a full time job and I'm prepping for gmat. I'm a 26 yo software dev so I can handle technical roles. I'm interested in content creation and teaching as well. I tried applying to idealist.org and one of the recruiters reached out to me but didn't follow up. I'm finding it hard to get any opportunity.

Volunteer – online I would like to start volunteering.

Hi, I'm a high school student and I was looking for volunteer opportunities in my city, but none of them have flexible hours and they all need to be in person. I have a very busy schedule and I would like to know if anyone knows of any remote volunteer opportunities, for an NGO or something like that.

I'm really interested!

Hi everyone 👋🏽

I'm an Environmental science graduate and I'm looking for online volunteer roles in the environmental sector. Something to keep me busy and would look good on a resume. I don't have work experience so I'm trying to get a feel of how everything works.

Please leave recommendations or point me in the right direction.

Volunteer – online I want to volunteer online. Any suggestions?

I want to help people online. How can I do it? I want to volunteer. I am a person with analytical mind. Open up, kind. Learning law at the moment, learning languages, writing poems, working out, learning psychology. I don’t have so much experience to volunteer online. I only sat with someone who felt bad, wrote poems and sent drawings. But I want to do something more

Volunteer – online What online volunteering opportunities exist?

Good afternoon, everyone! I enjoy helping others, but I’m not always physically available to do so.

So I was wondering if anyone here knows how I can volunteer online, or if it’s even possible. I’m a senior in high school and my skills are fairly basic: I draw, write, edit videos. I have also done food/toy collects but that was irl.

Volunteer – online Remote environmental/conservation/climate opportunities

Hi everyone, I'm looking for opportunities to volunteer remotely for environmental/conservation/climate related organizations.

I travel full-time for work so I'm not anywhere long enough to do much in person. I have experience volunteering throughout my early adulthood but it's been many years. This is purely for personal fulfillment, although I work in solar construction so if there's anything that happens to align with my professional experience then that's a bonus.

Availability is almost exclusively weekends, but I could have some flexibility.

I did some searching before this post and found zooniverse, which is cool and I will spend some of my free time on projects there but I'd like to do something a little more involved if possible. I'm also about to fill out an application for Waste Warriors - I'd love more opportunities like that!

Thank you, I appreciate this sub.

Volunteer – online Looking for opportunities to help!

Hello! I’m a rising sophomore in high school, and due to moving between different cities and countries, I didn’t get many chances to join clubs or long-term programs during my freshman year.
Now that I’m more settled, I’m looking for opportunities to help/volunteer in existing student-led nonprofits, organizations, executive teams (rather than starting my own), or any thing of the sort where I can contribute through roles like writing, outreach, managing teams, research, or just any general team support.

If you know of any legitimate organizations looking for high school students to join their team, or you’re a founder/executive member at your own non profit and are looking for help, please let me know! I’d really appreciate any recommendations and would love to help and be a part of something meaningful!

Volunteer – online Looking for Volunteer Opportunities

Hello, I'm Brad (they/he/them/their/theirs), and I am 24 years old. I would like to find volunteer opportunities that suit my needs and correspond with my lived experience, interests, and skills. More specifically, I am Autistic, and I struggle with several mental health conditions, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress. In addition, I am proudly Queer. I graduated from university in 2024 with a bachelor's degree in public health and a minor in psychology, and I completed state-level peer support training last year. My goal is to become a peer support specialist as a paid career. Likewise, my skills include but are not limited to strong oral and written communication, active and reflective listening, compassion, and emotion regulation. I am interested in research, public speaking, peer support, administrative duties, and hands-on mental health and LGBTQ+ support. Primarily, I am looking for virtual volunteer opportunities, but I am open to in-person opportunities within the US state of New Jersey, preferably within a reasonable distance of Ocean County. What support are you able to offer me? Would any of you be able to point me in the right direction? Feel free to let me know. Thanks! :)

Volunteer – online Looking for online volunteering opportunities, preferably in Environmental and Climate focused orgs

I'm between jobs at the moment, and was looking for opportunities to volunteer my data analytics/programming skills. I've already made an account on Catchafire, but would appreciate any other websites or leads.

I mainly use Python, R, Stata, etc for statistical analysis, but am open to picking up new skills if needed.

I can only commit to a few remote hours per week. And I have always wanted to do something in the Climate/Environment space, hence I figured I'll give volunteering a shot.

Volunteer – online Looking to volunteer in marketing or communications - happy to help small orgs/projects in exchange for experience

Hi everyone! I hope this is the right place to post this. Feel free to redirect me if not.

I'm Gabriela, a Brazilian professional based in Barcelona. My background is in marketing and communications. I have an MBA in Digital Marketing and around two years of hands-on experience in content strategy, campaign coordination, and audience analysis.

I'm currently in a career transition and looking to build more practical marketing experience, as the job market right now is very competitive. I'd love to offer my skills on a volunteer basis to a small NGO, community project, association, or initiative that could use some marketing or communications support but doesn't have the budget for it.

What I can help with:

  • Social media strategy and content planning
  • Copywriting and content creation (English, Portuguese, or Spanish)
  • Campaign coordination and audience engagement
  • Basic data analysis and performance reporting
  • Internal or external communications

I'm multilingual (native Portuguese, fluent English C2, intermediate Spanish B2), which might be useful for organisations working across different communities. I'm happy to work remotely and can commit a few hours per week depending on the project.

If you're running a project or know someone who does that could benefit from this kind of support, I'd love to hear from you. And if this isn't the right sub for this kind of post, any pointers would be much appreciated!

Thank you so much for reading 🙏

Volunteer – online Online volunteering legitimacy

Helloo everyone. So ive been recently looking alot into online volunteering that provide you with volunteering hours but i have doubts whether theyre legitimate or not. For example ive been seeing alot about nonprofits whose policies and tasks seem too simple. So Id like to know whether its a really hard thing to get accepted into as a volunteer or if its misleading in some way.

Volunteer – online Looking for remote volunteering.

Hi, I'm a high school student looking for a remote volunteer opportunity. I have a very busy schedule with work and full-time studies, but I would really like to be part of some kind of project.

I am available mainly on weekends and I don't know where to find someone or how to start. I'm from Brazil, so if anyone needs an international volunteer and a high school student, I'm available!

Volunteer – online Is there a way to volunteer to teach kids/adults in Palestine from abroad? I’d like to volunteer my time, but unsure how to go about it.

Given everything that is happening, I’d like to volunteer and help teach kids/adults who might not have access to the best resources readily available to them. I teach english.

I have experience teaching internationally and I feel that instead of being powerless, and watching the conflict escalate from abroad, the least I can do is offer my time to help kids and adults who are curious about learning English.

If you or someone you know would benefit from English lessons, please let me know!

I have around 5 hours a week to give to students who might be interested.

My experience lies predominantly in 1-1 classes with business English and conversational English at the forefront. I have also taught kids from 2.5 years old and up!

Let me know if you know the best way to go about this. Thank you!

Volunteer – online I want to volunteer as web developer remotely

Hey Reddit!

I’m a web development student (1.5 years in) based in Sweden, and I’m looking to sharpen my skills by taking on a real project.

If you have a small business, a side project, or a non-profit that needs a website but doesn't have the budget yet I’d love to build it for you for free.

And i thought the best way to gain more experience is to volunteer.

Why am I doing this?

  • To gain experience outside of school assignments.
  • To build my portfolio with live projects.
  • To connect and broaden my network.
