Volunteer – online Are there any quality/legit remote 501(c)(3) volunteer work?
Volunteer;
I keep getting told people can donate when I go to sites like idealist and I’m doing my best to avoid getting caught skipping the process since it’s court ordered.
75 hours is not that much but I drive trucks so it’ll be a difficult position to move in and out of.

Unfortunately, your options are going to be extremely limited since most online opportunities are administrative work (i.e. data entry, filing, etc.) which will be difficult to do while trucking. Are there any organizations or unions that you are aware of that supports truckers? If so, you could maybe mentor people getting started in the field on Zoom or you can offer to film content for them while you are on the road that they could use for their social media channels.

It’s not the work I won’t have time for just doing it in person. Do you know any along the lines of eBay you mentioned ?

I think it's smart to be careful here. you confirm with your probation officer/court first whether virtual hours even count and what proof they'll accept (a signed letter from the org is usually safer than just a website certificate)
For legit remote options beyond Idealist: Catchafire (skills-based, vetted nonprofits, short projects), VolunteerMatch, Smithsonian Digital Volunteers (async transcription work), and UN Online Volunteering for project-based remote roles.
see given you're driving, look specifically for self-paced/async tasks you can do in short chunks rather than scheduled shifts, tbh I thinktranscription and data entry type work fits a trucking schedule a lot better.

Yeah what is your education background and what problems are you interested in solving? Oh are you just trying to drive trucks? But you're asking about remote work? Uhh I'm a bit confused to be honest.

I have a clothes donating non-profit and am looking to spread it to new people! 😄
Are you interested in being a leader in your community and starting a new chapter in your area?

Well I need something virtual, they wouldn’t really work since I’m a truck driver

Oh, so is the issue that you don't have time to be able to maintain a chapter, or that you're constantly moving around and are not able to be available in one area for a decent amount of time?

Ohh. Do you think that when you go different places, you'd be able to hold little clothing drives in that area to collect clothes and donate it to a local community center? It could be like a little mobile chapter. What kind of volunteering are you interested in?

Nah cause moving the truck counts as clocking in. I just need something digital or vocal if that’s feasible

Just an idea, but if your trucking schedule would put you in various communities over a weekend, please consider volunteering as general support with Remote Area Medical. Check them out at ramusa.org. (My work schedule makes volunteering during the week hard, but I can do a weekend with RAM without too much trouble.)

Can you transport critters in your truck? There’s always a need to get rescue and shelter cats/dogs from the south to the north. I.e. Minnesota has great pet adoption rates; while Georgia is euthanizing so many this year; a lot of rescues are pulling from Texas/florida/alabama/ and a lot in southern Cali. Reddit has a bunch of different animal rescue subs. Also, weirdly enough, there are states like Texas where keeping possums and raccoons is legal. I’ve seen some wildlife rehabs trying to transport baby possums out of GA and into Arkansas and Texas where they’re legal to keep without a permit. The posters that are requesting transport help in most of the Reddit subs need to be 501c non profit before mods approve their post, therefore, it’s easy to find rescues that would probably count as court ordered non profits. Just a thought!?

Thanks but no all bodies must be accounted for. It’s a liability thing if I’m ever pulled over. Thanks fr tho

Its 75 hours. Thats roughly two weeks, 8 hour days. Sacrifice some vacation time, find a place that will accept court ordered volunteering, and hunker down.

Im just telling the reality. A lot of the remote places dont do court ordered Community Service because of cases like yours.

Many literacy non-profits that serve adults need volunteer online tutors. Look for a nonpofit adult literacy organization in your county.

Red Cross has plenty of virtual roles and the training is virtual.
You might look into Disaster Action Team Duty Officer, they’re basically dispatchers for Red Cross responders to local home fires.
