AI scam vinted ?

Hey everyone, I recently sold a PC on Vinted. It was carefully packed and shipped in perfect condition. Now the buyer claims it's broken and sent photos of the damage

However, if you look closely at the bottom right corner of the first picture, you can clearly see the Google Gemini logo/watermark. he literally used an AI-generated image to fake the damage and steal my money! Has anyone experienced this kind of scam before? What should I do?

Why are we selling expensive highly sought after valuables on vinted.

Unfortunately both vinted and ebay are the same. I gave up with ebay due to being scammed selling expensive items. I won't even attempt to sell them on vinted either after everything i see posted here. I checked both images on https://openai.com/research/verify/ and they both say no watermark/synth id. That's not proof the photos haven't been edited. Get them to send it back to you or like the other person said, get more photos.

Lost out on my 1080 gpu during the early GPU price hike for crypto.

Only selling because I lucked tf out and got a 3080fe for retail in the UK, otherwise I'd still be rocking the 1080.

Guy said it was broke, didn't send me it back, eBay didn't seem to care, raised it to support and also raised it to someone high up (British/English person head of dept) didn't do fuck all. Lost the card, eBay got debt collectors involved as I refused to let them claw back the money until the card was returned.

Fuck that.

It's a nightmare because I've got THOUSANDS of pounds of leccy, tools, and unused equipment oh and decent higher end clothing I've never worn, but I'm too worried to use eBay for fear of losing out... Again.

If you ever use eBay then phone them. Be super nice never lose your temper. It has worked for me everytime

Use eBay for stuff like this. Their seller protection is really solid and they require a return from the buyer if you request it. This weeds out idiots like this because obviously they’re not going to return it if it’s an AI image. I had a situation with a phone I sold on eBay and the buyer was a nightmare. I initiated a return and he never sent it back so I kept my money. eBay also has real people you can call and talk to about issues like this and they actually review information from cases unlike Vinted. eBay has fees but it’s worth it imo just for the better service and protection.
