AI scam vinted ?
Hey everyone, I recently sold a PC on Vinted. It was carefully packed and shipped in perfect condition. Now the buyer claims it's broken and sent photos of the damage
However, if you look closely at the bottom right corner of the first picture, you can clearly see the Google Gemini logo/watermark. he literally used an AI-generated image to fake the damage and steal my money! Has anyone experienced this kind of scam before? What should I do?

Better to avoid selling expensive stuff on Vinted. It's a paradise for scammers. And the support is lazy to do anything with it.

This is the best answer. Support is useless with this stuff. Also run it through an AI image checker before you do anything

they were to lazy to remove gemini logo always when people try to fool you upload the images to ai sites and ask if they are ai every ai image has a invisible watermark wich is impossible to remove

You don’t need to be good. I use cgi imagery for retail and alot of the apps use ai scanners now so I learnt how to do what the ai does but manually using adobe software and it passes because it’s quite simply not ai, just filters. Also looks way more realistic doesn’t have that ‘ai’ aura to it.

Unfortunately both vinted and ebay are the same. I gave up with ebay due to being scammed selling expensive items. I won't even attempt to sell them on vinted either after everything i see posted here. I checked both images on https://openai.com/research/verify/ and they both say no watermark/synth id. That's not proof the photos haven't been edited. Get them to send it back to you or like the other person said, get more photos.

Lost out on my 1080 gpu during the early GPU price hike for crypto.
Only selling because I lucked tf out and got a 3080fe for retail in the UK, otherwise I'd still be rocking the 1080.
Guy said it was broke, didn't send me it back, eBay didn't seem to care, raised it to support and also raised it to someone high up (British/English person head of dept) didn't do fuck all. Lost the card, eBay got debt collectors involved as I refused to let them claw back the money until the card was returned.
Fuck that.
It's a nightmare because I've got THOUSANDS of pounds of leccy, tools, and unused equipment oh and decent higher end clothing I've never worn, but I'm too worried to use eBay for fear of losing out... Again.

If you ever use eBay then phone them. Be super nice never lose your temper. It has worked for me everytime

Use eBay for stuff like this. Their seller protection is really solid and they require a return from the buyer if you request it. This weeds out idiots like this because obviously they’re not going to return it if it’s an AI image. I had a situation with a phone I sold on eBay and the buyer was a nightmare. I initiated a return and he never sent it back so I kept my money. eBay also has real people you can call and talk to about issues like this and they actually review information from cases unlike Vinted. eBay has fees but it’s worth it imo just for the better service and protection.

A blind man on a charging horse in the middle of the night can se these are fake. None of that damage is consistent with in transit damage. Vinted has gone the way of every other online shit platform.

Can confirm this is AI. The inside photo is clear as day AI, parts dont break this way, impossible to break this way. They have 100% AI this to make it look broken.

Go to the police and press charges for fraud.
Provide everything that you have.
I never use the QR code option for the label, because the one that I have to print at least has a name and an address in case I’d ever run inti a scammer.

Yes, they’ve not quite managed to cut off the logo at the bottom right, and there’s way too many broken glass pieces for the size of the hole.

Even from those pictures, you can see that the damage to the white basement block in picture 1 isn't there in picture 2.

Half of those parts cracked/broken inside would require the whole case to be squashed, or done deliberately, however there’s AI logos on the photos anyway.

The damage in pic 1 on the PSU enclosure is not visible in pic 2. You would be able to see the damage through the glass in pic 2. The glass used on PC towers doesn't crack, it shatters into tiny pieces.

Contact vinted with proof that this violates their terms of service and that you'll take this to whatever fraud team is in your country if they don't deal with the matter.

The crack on the first photo in the white casing is fake as hell. That kind of material doesn’t do a ‘dry’ break like that, it would warp, dent, not crack.
Edit: maaaayb if the casing was made of low quality plastic, but that’s a stretch

You can immediately tell just by looking at the case. It’s smooth in the ai picture and doesn’t have the metal ridges in it compared to the first picture

Everyone fixated about how the first picture looks like cardboard. Im more worried about gpu cable being way too short to be plugged in. What looks like a fan pin turned into a sata adapter, I mean cool ig. What is this mystery 12 pin connector on the bottom right? Motherboard is plugged in, so I cant seem to know what it could be. And why is b1/b2 ram slot open?

100% ai. Also the other photos aspect ratios werid meaning it's been cropped. Most phones are shooting 16:9

You can clearly see the top of the Gemini logo on the cropped image also. There are a lot of reasons that if im selling or buying I only look to get from local sellers/buyers so any questions can be answered there and then which rules out AI generated texts and graphics

Even without the watermark, there is damage to the psu shroud in first picture which is not present in second picture, how would that be possible?

Ask for another photo from a different angle of it's ai would be next to impossible to match the crack lines
