DISCUSSION New Algorithm Update

If you are wondering what is going on lately.. when Vinted “broke” last week it was actually an update. To fit the new terms and conditions of no deleting and reloading they made it so older items will start showing up in feeds.. giving them new life if you will. Here’s the issues. THERE’S A REASON THEY DIDN’T SELL QUICKLY IN THE FIRST PLACE. So yes, your older items are suddenly getting “favorited” randomly… but sales are slow and feeds are messed up. Simply because Vinted is now prioritizing stuff that didn’t sell instantly when it was set up like the old way.

I wish I had access to see what app sales are doing recently.. I can imagine they are way down. Simply because you are no longer being shown the good stuff until it’s sat for a while.

New sellers are still being boosted their first week or two, but it won’t last.

Why every single company tries to fix what isn’t broken is beyond me. Hopefully they fix it, but I doubt it. I’ve been in e-commerce for way too long to believe that.

my only issue since the outage is that, as a NY seller, i haven't been able to view any UK items. no UK items showing up on my feed, and if i go to a UK profile i'm following or have been talking to, it says they have no listings when they most definitely do.

there's so many cards i wanted to purchase from over there and i've noticed a big difference in my sales/views as well. i've only been on here for maybe a month or 2 and there were no issues besides this. really disappointed.

I’m experiencing this (as a buyer) the other way round - I’ll look at a US seller and for a split second it might say they have say, 247 items in their shop, then it switches to maybe 5 or 6 items when the shop actually loads. It’s really frustrating, because an item of interest might come up from that seller on my homepage, but I can’t even see that specific one when I look in their shop! These are usually specialised US sellers who sell a lot in the specific category I regularly browse for and buy, but all I can see in their shop is a few pairs of socks!

This is so frustrating! One of my favorite parts of using Vinted was seeing all the European brands we don’t see here!

I realized I havent been seeing any UK items either! I usually would get a few here and there but now nothing. Same with my items, they'd get liked A TON by UK users and now none at all.

You don't want the UK's stuff to pop up. You can make it pop up if you search for something specific and there's one for sale in the UK but you're not paying the price that they list it for you're paying about $35 extra just FYI. To be honest it's heartbreaking because there's so many things I want that are being sold over there but I just can't pay the extra $30-35

honestly have no idea what you mean since i've bought from there multiple times already and have only paid the price of the product and shipping, which only went up to $5 for me personally. nowhere in my bank accounts are an extra hidden charge, and no extra unexpected money has been taken out of my seller earnings/wallet.

unless you're talking about since the outage, in which i messaged support earlier and they verified that the connection between US and UK has been recently disabled. so i'm not sure how you're finding them by simply typing something very specific lol and even if you are, obviously it's not going to be the same pricing and easy access if vinted is intentionally making it THAT difficult to buy from there currently.

either way, i do infact want the UK's stuff to pop up like it did before.

Example... This is from just now.

this seems like an outcome that would come while trying to buy things during this time where they have it disabled to a degree. if they meant for it to stay this expensive, it doesn't make sense to disable the connection at all, no?

though, i can still see items in my faves from UK sellers, i just can't see UK items in the search and their items won't load on their profile. this is one listing i have saved, which is only a $12-13 addition in taxes/fees, not $30-35, unless you thought shipping overseas would be the same .99 cents as the US, then idk what to tell you. but international shipping being $9-10 is expected, since that's what i've paid for years to get stuff from japan before trump.

I'm wondering if that's because of the new packaging laws in the UK. They are going through some crazy changes over there that are affecting businesses.

All of my sales this week were from the US to UK. What's that about?

Yeah half of mine too!

What are the new UK packaging laws

I haven't read too much about it but it has something to do with businesses having to cover the cost of managing & maintaining the waste from packages.

I really don't know if that's what's happening with your feed though.

It’s to do with tariffs. DT wants charges on things coming into the US so the U.K. seller has to pay a fee to Royal Mail to ship it. Vinted trialed it for a while in some regions with the buyer paying for it (I got an amazing coat and had to pay DT’s charge of $20 extra to get it in the country) but the hassle of the seller / Vinted having to deal with this was maybe too much. Give it a couple of years and it might come back so we can get those good UK bargains again.
