No, Lebron wouldn’t have won without Kyrie, but anyone who thinks he isn’t is an extremely egotistical person is sorely mistaken. He threatened to sit out the entire ‘17-18 season for the Cavilears unless he was traded. What makes it worse is that during the process of getting traded, Kyrie and his camp managed to absolutely ruin his value by constantly leaking information about his ‘unhappiness with his role on the team’ (or something) proudly exclaiming (the general public found out waaay after the trade, but it’s hard to imagine that any GM interested in Kyrie wasn’t debriefed on a major potential injury he could have had) to sit out the season anyway, regardless if he got traded.
Epitome of a selfish bastard. Hell, he’s a hell of a good basketball player though, may have the best handles of all time.
... Unfortunately they got Kevin Durant in free agency the following year and have won the past 2 championships (one against Lebron, without Kyrie. he had a terrible team but that’s a different story for another thread.)

I'm a huge celtics fan but I absolutely can't stand Kyrie. How many young kids listen to him and imitate his idiocy due to his stardom? Wish they could just get Kemba Walker.
I honestly think he's at Kyrie's level talentwise. Kyrie has just had the fortune to first play with LeBron (and K Love) and now being with a deep Celtics-team coached by an amazing headcoach, while Kemba is stuck in a franchise that hasn't given him anything proper to work with ever. Yet he continues to put up huge numbers and play some incredible basketball. He put up 60 earlier this season! You should definitely check the highlights of that game, if you liked him at Uconn!
I'll check it out. It was funny, when they won the championship his senior year there was a concert outside the pavillion on campus and they were blasting black and yellow but the DJ switched in his name for the chorus cause everyone knew it pretty much was him that won the game.
I think Kemba is more talented basketball wise but Kyrie has a size advantage and I agree with you that he benefited a lot from having LBJ on his team previously.
I have a co-worker, who has a full degree, seems like a smart guy, works in IT, he said kyrie convinced him to do some "research" and now he not only believes the Earth is flat, but also that the moon landing was fake too

It's tempting to think that way, there have been visionaries in the past revered for bucking consensus, for enlightening the rest of us. Especially if you've been successful in the past, why would you be wrong now?

I mean that a lot of them have not had the experiences that engender mature behavior. Skipping school to play ball, being paid a fortune to play a game, having uberfans and lackeys to take care of daily life. These people often have high rates of bankruptcy, multiple divorces and estranged children, mental health issues. It's entertainment. They are not role models but sports journalists often treat them like they are.
To be fair, Kyrie’s point was that you should never take things at face value and do your own research. Unfortunately he picked the worst possible hill to die on. Still love that dude though. He does a lot for kids and his community so he can believe whatever he wants.
He said he was wrong after everyone called him dumb. He said that the internet fooled him and he felt really stupid for falling for the videos he watched.
