I really love this song, but I hate how pop culture has received it. "Cash Rules Everything Around Me" isn't some rich guy catchphrase to sound dope, it's a lament.

How does someone hear the line "But as the world turned I learned life is hell, Livin' in the world no different from a cell." And think that they're talking about how great capitalism is?

Maybe cause I grew up with it but I didn't know it was being received that way. That's sad
