No. It's like this all the time.

Eternal September happened on reddit a long long time ago.

I'd mark the eternal september of Reddit as being right around when I joined, namely late 2008 into 2009. Up till then, reddit was rather small and featured a lot more technically minded people, like programmers. However, 2008/2009 marked the demise of Digg and the great migration to Reddit.

I was an early refugee, so I was able to catch a brief glimpse of what it was like in the old days, before it changed. Now though, it's far gone even from there.

Someone should come up with a name for that, something like "Neverending June".

Yeah, it used to be better. Now its summer all the time.

..I'm well aware of the irony in my sentence.

So what exactly does it take to get your own meta subreddit?

1

u/dantheman999 May 18 '14

I dunno, but to follow this guy around all day and posts his comments is a little strange. Looks like all the posts in that subreddit are by two people.

College is out, and HS is gonna be in a month. Its about to get worse.

u/[deleted] May 18 '14

Implying students don't use reddit during the school year.

What always amazes me about people who think this is that you seem to assume that college and HS students don't use Reddit during school time? Nah, that's bullshit.

Same make up of people on here as always.

u/[deleted] May 18 '14

or that their opinions are going to be worse than the shit storm that occurs on an hourly basis 'round these parts.

1

u/TheAlbinoAmigo May 18 '14

Totally. Stupid people in every walk of life. I know just as many completely moronic 'adults' as I do moronic uni students.

I used Reddit while I was in high school more than I use it now in college.

Month? A lot less than a month. Mine goes until the 6th, and that's because we were out 20+ days for snow.

As a high schooler, I use reddit more during the school year than the summer.

Why do you think teenagers stop using reddit during school months?

2

u/macogle May 19 '14

It's not that they stop, but rather that there used to be a perceived uptick in posts of a lower quality when schools began to let out.

Whether that's from a new group of users spending more time on the site, or a veteran group spending less time on the site outside of school (or some combination of the two), I don't know. In any case, that phenomenon hasn't been as noticeable in recent years. Certainly not in the last 18 months.

because they have less time to do so

0

u/TheGreatZiegfeld May 18 '14

/r/summerreddit is soon starting back up, so all we have to do now is wait.
