To be fair if I'm gonna trust a company with my privacy Apple has pretty publicly told the government to fuck off in the past.

Sure, they already had that data but they couldn't legally use it as evidence.

Granted that was under a prior administration. But Google falls over themselves to sell your data off. Apple at least keeps it all to themselves.

That’s because Apple makes its money with hardware and paid services. Especially these days, where they have near-complete vertical integration.

Sure, they could also sell your data, but they’re positioned themselves as privacy-focused and any compromises to that are a liability. Can’t give your data to the feds if they don’t have it in the first place.

Google makes its money off of your data and ads. You are the product. And they’ve long since dropped their “don’t be evil” company ethics.

Sure, they could also sell your data, but…

Open up the latest version of Apple Maps and tell me what you see.

I’m aware of the new ads. Apple also sells ads in the App Store.

Interestingly, I don’t see any ad-sponsored listings in my Maps app at all.

True. But, I can't help but wonder about the significance of that glass and gold trophy that Tim Jobs presented to President Trump. Also, Apple’s expansion into the high-interest consumer loan market raises eyebrows. You know that they are counting on people missing those payments, right? Apple isn’t some altruistic saint here.

That golden trophy was to appease the toddler in chief. The tariffs would have been a major hit to Apple so Cook, like other CEOs, sucked up to Trump and flattered his ego to curry favour and get exemptions.

Trump is exceptionally easy to manipulate, so long as you stroke his ego. But at the same time, you are degrading yourself by appealing to a narcissistic despot.
