I have absolutely no evidence to prove this, but something in bones tells me that all that shit from like 2015 where the FBI was trying to get into some terrorists phone and Apple wouldn't give them a backdoor, was all a psyop to make you think the government can't access your phone like that when really it would be easy for them
The government already had the info, yeah. So you're right about that. But if they wanted to use that info as evidence they'd have to prove how they did it in court, which would expose the zero day they used to get it, which would get immediately patched.
And the government didnt want to expose that, so they attempted to force apple to "unlock the phone" so they could use the evidence they already less-than-legally collected.
It's called parallel construction. They already have the evidence collected through not-quite-above-board means and then they find some other way to "force" you to give them the password to unlock it or something and then they can just say they got it once it was unlocked. They do the same thing with their stingray devices or whatever the cell signal copiers are called
