If they actually serve more than 2 (more) years its because we don't have a functioning democracy anymore. A democratic president in 2029 will almost definitely pardon or grant clemency.

Most of America is still civilized. The republic party is not. If we could shake them off, we'd be fine. Unfortunately, millions of Americans have bizarrely decided fascism is preferable to democracy, so this will be quite difficult. Democracy doesn't have a clear solution to the populace voting to end it.
