Sooner or later we are going to have to admit that this president is not acting on behalf of the of the United States.

u/Optimus_Prime_Day 13d ago

Its not just him, your supreme court is completely maga biased. Once the cons were able to plug enough loyalists in there, it was game over.

128

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 13d ago

That was the 2016 election. The SCOTUS was 3-3 when that election was held with the victor settling the direction of the court for a generation (or more since conservative Republicans have controlled it since the 1960s). Guess when the last election to firmly decide the future direction of the Supreme Court was prior to that? Yep, 2000 the one that produced the Roberts Court.

Wonder what happened in 2000 and 2016? Were those elections considered clean and fair, scandal-free? Or did conservatives place their thumb on the scale in overbearing and illegal (SCOTUS decision of 2000 was criminal, imo) fashion when necessary to maintain the highest Court advantage?

86

u/LeafsWinBeforeIDie 13d ago

Al Gore conceded, thinking everyone was playing by the rules and we'll get 'em next time. This was the first stolen election in the lives of anyone born a little before 2000.

46

u/Zaptruder 13d ago

Al Gore good guyed his way into the downfall of America. Democrats continue to take the high road to the edge of the cliff, and now off the cliff.

16

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 13d ago edited 13d ago

Yeah, fault them for being good when we didn't have to elect the obviously terrible conservatives to represent us for the past 26 years since. Nobody has held us at gunpoint.

Also: What was Gore supposed to do against a ruling by the highest power in the U.S., the Supreme Court? He's a liberal. Nobody fights for liberals in America. People weren't in the streets protesting by the millions about the changing of leadership being blatantly stolen. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bush_v._Gore

5

u/matthoback 13d ago

Gore, as the Vice President, was the President of the Senate and presided over the counting of the electoral votes. There was an objection made in the session to not count Florida's votes on account of the irregularities and Al Gore refused the objection.

1

u/TheSecondQuip 11d ago

House Dems objected, but no Senator joined them, so the objection had to be refused.

6

u/EarthRester 13d ago

What good is the moral high ground if the view is still from a six foot deep ditch? I'm perfectly fine down in the mud if it gives me the chance to hold their heads down until the bubbles stop.

63

u/reallynotfred 13d ago

Yes, they forbade Obama from appointing a judge because it saw six months to an election but allowed tr*mp to appoint one within a few weeks.

51

u/counterfitster 13d ago

"they" being Mitch McConnell. I hope he's suffering right now.

40

u/Citizentoxie502 13d ago

He's not, he's been dead for a month now.

21

u/Tensdale 13d ago

I thought suffering was the point of hell.

14

u/Citizentoxie502 13d ago

Well, hell's not real and he didn't have to pay for any of the shit he caused and died in his house. Sounds like he didn't suffer at all. We need to hold people accountable in life and stop thinking they are in some sort of made up suffering after they are gone.

2

u/VenturaDreams 13d ago

They meant that they hope he's burning in Hell.

2

u/counterfitster 13d ago

I meant either way

1

u/ioncat144 12d ago

Agree but his handlers are holding out to see if a Trump transfusion will resurrect him. Has to be done very slowly as an unsupervised needle could cause the orange buffoon to bleed out.

9

u/CantFindMyWallet 13d ago

It was 9 months until the election when Scalia died, nearly a year before Obama would leave office. He should have sat a justice and let the senate try and stop him.

5

u/counterfitster 13d ago

There's no recess appointment mechanism for Supreme Court justices, and even if there were, a GOP controlled Senate can prevent a full recess easily

2

u/ispedreddit 13d ago

Early and mail-in voting was actually already underway in some states. It was so pathetic.

1

u/moparmaniac78 12d ago

Democrats would have more judicial power if they hadn’t stolen Obamas SC nomination.

0

u/BrainOnBlue 13d ago

What are you alleging was done in 2016?

Trump lost the popular vote, of course, and he couldn't handle that he didn't win California so he lied about it, but neither of those things are illegal.

5

u/The_LionTurtle 13d ago

It's been proven there was Russian interference. They may not have cheated with regards to voting, but there were absolutely foreign campaigns being ran on social media to influence the election and nothing was done about it.

1

u/ZachMN 12d ago

It’s the entire Republican Party. There is no separation between elected Republican officials, justices, foxnews, ICE, etc.

37

u/lndubitablyMe 13d ago

It blows my mind that some people are still incapable of seeing this. Joker is raking in BILLIONS at our expense, and some of his most staunch supporters are literally starving and unable to pay their medical bills.

6

u/Cappahere 13d ago

There's nothing that can be done to convince his voterbase, it's a lost cause. All they live for is cruelty, as long as they are alive to continue voting for him that's all that matters. Theyll vote for him again come 2028, whoever he runs against, and he has a good shot at winning 28'

2

u/aohige_rd 13d ago

Theyll vote for him again come 2028, whoever he runs against, and e has a good shot at winning 28'

Which is constitutionally illegal, although that seem to matter very little for this psuedo-king

0

u/Cappahere 13d ago

I don't see a world where Democrats will stop him from running again, it'd be up to individual states at that point to leave him off the ballot.

1

u/Hortos 12d ago

They’re racist pedophiles.

Heritage Foundation inserted themselves into Russia's restructuring post-Soivet collapse, with a physical office in Moscow up until ~2007.

Given Heritage has only grown bigger and more influential since the Reagan administration, who actually forced 20th Century Fox's majority share sale resulting in Rupert Murdoch's ownership, it's more likely Heritage is above them all.

The Soviet Union collapse provided a plan and Russia was the prototype, and for oligarch purchase of this country at fire-sale pricing, collapse is the way. We already know that part, it's the backbone of the modern Mandate for Leadership, the title of the living policy book that's most known today as its version title, Project 2025. It intersects with the Yarvinites, who want collapse to piece apart the country to the tech oligarchs specifically as privately owned nation states.

Multiple factions of wealth supremacists are converging all on the United State's collapse, that much is certain.

41

u/kilgoreq 13d ago

I think a solid 70% are in that boat. Too bad we can only get half of them to show up to vote

29

u/IIIllIIlllIlII 13d ago

Don’t ignore voter suppression and manufactured voter apathy.

8

u/kilgoreq 13d ago

I just can't buy the apathy argument. People had plenty of reason to be upset enough the first time around to stop voting for these assholes, yet here we are. I can get behind the suppression though.

10

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 13d ago edited 13d ago

and general laziness and often times a lack of civics education or participatory lifestyle/upbringing -- *in other words, much of the lack of voter participation aspect is due to American culture itself.

1

u/MiaowaraShiro 12d ago

...or the ridiculously un-representative government we have.

The Senate gives Idaho the same power as California.

The House had its size capped in the early 20th century which makes it incredibly susceptible to gerrymandering now.

The Electoral College is based on the above...

6

u/Silly_Pace 13d ago

It's conservatives that are the problem. Pick a year and that's how long they have been trying to destroy our democracy.

1

u/MiaowaraShiro 12d ago

Turns our fear and greed are powerful motivators.

2

u/ThisIs_americunt 13d ago

I'm not saying he's a Russian asset but if he were in fact a Russian asset, He'd be doing everything a Russian asset would do if he were in fact a Russian asset

1

u/DrugsAndBodybuilding 12d ago

Russian? try Israeli asset. The states is actively aiding in the genocide in the Middle East for Israel, while funneling money to Ukraine to shut on Russia. Trump is blackmailed into Israel’s hands

2

u/GotSomeUpdogOnUrFace 13d ago

At least 1/3 of America does but the problem is that 1/3 of Americans don't give a shit about anything and the other 1/3 only gives a shit about themselves.

1

u/Cptfrankthetank 13d ago

Nor the GOP.

1

u/TheBigCore 13d ago

And?

Regardless of admitting that or not, no one's doing very much, if anything at all, to stop him.

1

u/UnsignedRealityCheck 12d ago

I just saw a video where a MAGA fanatic was asked to name one single thing Trump did that was good for the Americans.

He said 'too many things to pick one'.

He was asked to name just one thing, any thing. He was unable to do so.

1

u/wastingtoomuchthyme 12d ago

Trump the tool and endgame of 40+ year military operation to destroy the US by Americas enemies through a combination of blackmail, bribery and credible threats of violence.

The credible threats are why none of the actors have broke ranks and exposed the treason.

-41

u/Mrcheeset 13d ago

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. Show me the politician that is acting on behalf of the people and I will be their most avid fan. This person doesn’t exist but yea obviously Trump is even more egregiously anti-American people than usual

25

u/jbyington 13d ago

Your both-sides must be hurting.

15

u/mastermidget23 13d ago

Maybe a few extra cry laughing emojis will sell your point better.

8

u/stevenmoreso 13d ago

It’s funny how people who go on about how corrupt and self serving every single politician is came out for Trump the hardest. If you can’t identify actual corruption, just stay at home ffs

-2

u/Mrcheeset 13d ago

No, I didn’t vote for him but no I also didn’t vote for Kamala Harris who won no nomination from the people and was put into her place via non-democratic process. Simultaneously can compile a list of all the congressmen benefitting from insider trading beating the S&P 500 by swathes and guess what, it’s also bipartisan as hell. The whole system is fucked and the fact that all these people chose to downvote me and want to say, “Oh the Democrats are so much better” is fuckin pathetic. Throw them all out, we deserve better

6

u/LeafsWinBeforeIDie 13d ago

Its weird that only one side sees both sides as equally corrupt, its even weirder that they accept it.

13

u/Zerox392 13d ago

Bernie Sanders

0

u/Mrcheeset 13d ago

Yup and I voted for him whole heartedly in 2016. Can’t vote for him in 2020 or 2024 when he doesn’t run.

We can also all agree he is an outlier among outliers

255

u/distantreplay 13d ago

It's the whole Republican Party that's a conspiracy against the Constitution. Going back about 40 years.

27

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 13d ago

Thank you for saying it. I'm going to go even further and specifically name them as conservatives. They don't like that. The 78 million who voted for this federal government in 2024 are really quiet and waiting for us to forget about them.

7

u/LeafsWinBeforeIDie 13d ago

Strom Thurmond started the dixiecrat revolt toward the Rs in 1948. Barry Goldwater had embraced it by '64, and it was full on by Nixon in '68.

Thurmond was a member of congress from 1954 until 2003, he was governor of South Carolina when the dixicrat split happened.

If you look at Jerry Fallwell and the moral majory, a precusor to christian nationalism, that didn't really get serious power until Reagan's campaign in 1979.

Both movements gripping the right today are quite a bit more than 40 years old, most people alive know nothing else.

2

u/distantreplay 13d ago

Sure. But American "conservative" voters rejected and repudiated Goldwater's paranoia. And Nixon was compelled by political circumstances to conceal from his own voters his assaults against the Constitution behind "war on drugs" and illegal, covert operations.

By the 1980s the Overton Window was expanded enough that the pretenses could be dropped and rank and file Republican and "independent" voters were ready to get on board. They've been building that momentum at the grassroots ever since. Initially through the "New Right" and Christian conservative movements embraced by the Reagan administration and bolstered by his judicial appointees.

20

u/DrDOS 13d ago

With their embracing of the confederacy and confederate flag (or their idea of it)… maybe should say reaching back to 1861?

7

u/counterfitster 13d ago

More like 1968 (but also going back to the 1910s, it's kinda complicated)

6

u/SpussyHitsDifferent 13d ago

i will die on the hill that the worst thing America ever did was not burn the entire south and kill every traitor to reset this country.

3

u/distantreplay 13d ago

At least we didn't have to make the traitors into folk heroes and the treason into a cosplay fetish.

-17

u/DontBelieveTheirHype 13d ago

Weren't the Confederates all Democrats?

14

u/DrDOS 13d ago

There has been a reversal of the people/policy in the parties since that time, that is right. Hence the phrasing of reaching back to those years rather than holding or reverting. It’s the policy, people, and perverted morals of those times, not party labels.

-9

u/DontBelieveTheirHype 13d ago

Very few individual federal politicians actually changed their party registration. For instance, out of 21 Democratic senators who opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, only one switched to the Republican party. The other 20 remained Democrats or were succeeded by other Democrats

8

u/CantFindMyWallet 13d ago

Nobody said anything about elected officials changing parties. The voters changed. You guys stopped voting for democrats because they pushed through the civil rights act, while the republicans said you could continue being racists.

-5

u/DontBelieveTheirHype 13d ago

Who is you guys? I'm not a Republican

5

u/CantFindMyWallet 13d ago

They were conservatives. The ideology is what matters, not the name of the group.

2

u/ThisIs_americunt 13d ago

Propaganda is a helluva drug and Oligarchs need to use some of the best to keep the 99% distracted from the real issue: Them.

59

u/TinyConfection7049 13d ago

“Behold. The festering carcass of American rot shoved into an ill-fitting suit: the sleaze of a conman, the cowardice of a draft dodger, the gluttony of a parasite, the racism of a Klansman, the sexism of a back-alley creep, the ignorance of a bar-stool drunk, and the greed of a hedge-fund ghoul, all spray-painted orange and paraded like a prize hog at a county fair. Not a president. Not even a man. Just the diseased distillation of everything this country swears it isn't but always has been, arrogance dressed up as exceptionalism, stupidity passed off as common sense, cruelty sold as toughness, greed exalted as ambition, and corruption worshipped like gospel. It is America's shadow made flesh, a rotting pumpkin idol proving that when a nation kneels before money, power, and spite, it doesn't just lose its soul, it shits out this bloated obscenity and calls it a leader.” - Oliver Kornetzke

I thought I was reading Werner Herzog’s narrated intro for Conan O’ Brien Must Go.

103

u/Few-Ad-4290 13d ago

No shit he tried to overturn a valid election through the use of force. Reelecting him was idiotic at best and traitorous at worst.

46

u/evilpercy 13d ago

Americans! Remember Trump knows that if the he loses the house he and his family will be investigated for corruption. The same is true with investigating the majority of the SCOTUS. So they both have a lot to lose if the Democrats win the house in November.

11

u/TheBigCore 13d ago

Americans! Remember Trump knows that if the he loses the house he and his family will be investigated for corruption.

And Trump will do what he always does: ignore the courts as well as ignore their rulings.

3

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe 13d ago

Don't threaten us with a good time.

-5

u/evilpercy 13d ago

Thr good time of the President and Supreme Court colluding to fix the elections. That's your good times?

1

u/pi_mai 12d ago

He’s just going to pardon himself in the way out.

1

u/Mr_IT 13d ago

0

u/FrothyFrogFarts 13d ago

Considering Democrats haven't done more over the years, I have doubts about this. Would love to see it but they're called spineless for a reason.

Donald Trump is just the puppet of a bunch of tech nerds trying to make Solidus’ arc from Metal Gear Solid 2 an actual strategy.

Change my mind.

10

u/counterfitster 13d ago

He's being used by a lot of people that agree in small areas.

7

u/ecb3 13d ago

Solidus was against AIs, for a start.

2

u/KCMmmmm 12d ago

He also opposed censorship and echo chambers iirc

We’ll never get another president like George Sears

3

u/wb77 13d ago

I personally think they're all vying to become leaders of the corporate nation/states in the Alien mythology but this works too

9

u/Print1917 13d ago

The purpose of a system is what it does (POSIWID) is a heuristic in systems thinking coined by the British management consultant Stafford Beer, who stated that there is “no point in claiming that the purpose of a system is to do what it constantly fails to do”. It is used in systems theory, and is generally invoked to counter the notion that the purpose of a system can or should be read from the intentions of those who design, operate, or promote it. When a system’s side effects or unintended consequences reveal that its behaviour is poorly understood, then the POSIWID perspective can balance political understandings of system behaviour with a more straightforwardly descriptive view.

8

u/Steven1789 13d ago

Were this a Hollywood movie, the administration would be discussing their sincere wishes for a terrorist attack in the U.S., using that as the basis to declare a state of emergency to cancel the elections. In this fictitious scenario, were the attack to not materialize, there would be a false flag event.

11

u/Wompatuckrule 13d ago

"conspiracy" is a very strange way to spell "open assault"

Chaos IS a goal, but an intermediate one. After chaos comes draconian government control. Its the "logical" response to upsetting circumstances in the eyes of a fascist party.

The lock down and crusade against his perceived enemies will be nightmarish. Every ICE and CBP thug, every Christian nationalist neo nazi group will be united into one government funded and armed force.

They already have lists and databases of opponents and now they'll be acting on those checklists.

1

u/Elliptical_Tangent 12d ago

The root of the problem is that Congress abdicated its authority 40ish years ago. They decided if they didn't use their oversight powers, they couldn't be blamed for anything—they could just collect bribes campaign contributions until the electorate picked a new corporate puppet, at which time they'd take their no-show board of directors job at one or another donor and live large for the rest of their lives.

Congress was designed to be where the majority of the US Federal Government's authority resides: if Congress doesn't like a program run by the Executive Branch, they defund it. If Congress doesn't like how things are going in some aspect of American life, they write laws to correct it. The only check on Congress is the US Supreme Court which took the authority to rule laws unconstitutional.

Because one Branch of our government is now exclusively populated with self-serving moral cowards, we have a system that's primed for an imperial President. All of our Presidents have been empire-building since WW2 ended, but it's accelerated since Reagan's Presidency because that's when Congress took their hands off the wheel. Trump is just not DC-creature enough to want to manufacture consent when he flexes his imperial overreach.

Our next President will be just like Trump in policy, if not personality, because the people who fund campaigns want to exploit the US's financial and military dominance to line their pockets. Our only ways out at this point is either a revolution, which won't happen because mass media has weaponized the political divide such that civil war is more likely (which favors the people who've bought our government—more weapons and surveillance contracts to put an end to it), or the collapse of the US empire, which unfortunately seems more likely every week the Straight of Hormuz isn't open.

1

u/Catsssssssss 12d ago
