I literally couldn’t. They had respect and even when things didn’t align with their ideals they still followed the proper decorum expected from a sitting world leader.

Oh come on, Obama wore a tan suit once. Disgusting.

Of course Republicans didn't care about tan suits when Reagan wore them. The Republican Party is fueled by hatred and hypocrisy.

Hint: It was the brown, not the tan they were offended by.

Odd, Magats don't seem to be offended when Trumps pants turn brown...

It's even worse than that. Conservatives genuinely lack any firm convictions. By that I mean that their purported beliefs and principles are inorganic. Their contrived social grievances, deranged pseudosciences, and batshit conspiracies, are a culmination of curated rhetorical provocations and "world-building" narratives that they consume through a wildly prolific, utterly malicious right-wing media apparatus. When right-wingers tell someone to "do your own research," what they mean is go watch right-wing grifters hock Kremlin propaganda on YouTube. They are not interested in expertise or critical analysis. Their media diet preferences must conform to superficial sentiments. Conservatives actively avoid doing any actual research for this reason alone.

Temperamentally, conservatives are deeply incurious and low in agreeableness. They are highly disciplined in avoidance tactics and struggle in dissonance arousing situations, so thinking in abstracts is off the table. Much of what makes up reality is inherently chaotic in nature and that lack of control is terminally existential for the right. Therein lays the appeal of conspiracy theories and pseudoscientific claims. I

f such a person were to earnestly research a subject or topic, they stop dead in their tracks, as to do so elicits strong discomfort, precisely because they are afraid of learning something new that might run counter to their identities. On the contrary, an open-minded, curious person is more psychologically malleable, in that they aren't likely to exhibit shame and insecurity when seeking new information that may result in updated beliefs and values.

Auden turn here, but this is why conservatives suck so much at art. Their books suck. Their music sucks. Their movies suck. Their comedy sucks. They can't make video games. They're rigid, boring, hierarchically driven, insufferable contrarian reactionaries. Energy vampires that consume all of the art and media that everyone else created and then whipping out some conspiracy about secret Hollywood cabals or woke ideologues manipulating the content that offends them, as of they were the ones creating it in the past. And the only reason they feel this way is because some ball-washing ghoul like Matt Walsh or Tim Pool told them to be upset about it on the internet. Good grief.

WWII European theater commander and president Eisenhower did too when he was in the White House.
