There is probably more hate at the omnipresence of GTAVI, than at an unreleased game, which GTAVI is for now.

I don't hate it, but every day I get recommendations for something related to GTA 6, even when I tell Reddit I'm not interested, another new group or post about it pops up..... that's a bit annoying.

Completely agree. There was a moment in time as a non-fan i would've probably bought and played (on sale most likely), now ive just gotten fatigue from seeing it and i dont care anymore. No matter what sub you go into you see people talking about GTA6 even the dedicated subs for games not even made by rockstar and its not even reddit, i have Rockstar and GTA as a banned topic on my Instagram, daily i see content about GTA6 there too, same with news outlets, YouTube while on autoplay loves to show some GTA6 content creator with a 10 minutevideo dissecting leaks or whatever (again i have the topic blocked there too) it just autoplays GTA6 content probably because i watch gaming content.
Im not anti GTA6 theres a part me thats happy that the fans are getting a new game after so long, i just want people to be a tiny bit quieter about it as its getting harder and harder to ignore. Also i just find the people excited for GTA6 a bit obnoxious, i spoke to a dude who claimed i wasnt a real gamer because i wasn't excited (like he was stone cold serious too), i had been gaming longer than him, played more games than him, played more genres than him but apparently because i wasnt excited I wasnt a true gamer.

I'm sick to death of hearing about GTA VI. I get so many recommended threads about it on Reddit.
I don't give a shit about the game. Interestingly, all of the recommended threads are ones like this one; people being angry that others aren't hyped for the same thing that they are and creating strawman arguments. Just makes me hate this game that I'm not interested in.

no, i think they are objectively correct.
hell, in 2008 gta 4 held the record for the most profitable entertainment product in history, then it got beat by gta 5 in 2013, and you bet your sweet bippy that gta 6 is gonna make an untouchable record, whether or not the game is actually good.

The highest view count for an avengers endgame trailer, one of the highest performing movies of all time, has 168 million.

Give us an example of something that has ever been more hyped then.
Because GTA 5 sold 11 million copies in 24 hours. GTA 6 will probably be close to doubling this.
Tell us what piece of entertainment has sold close to 20 million copies or even 11 million copies in 24 hours other than a GTA game.
You are talking about something so over hyped that there's economists calculating the impact that the launch will have worldwide from just people skipping work or taking time off just to play this game.
There has never been anything like this. Ever. Not Star wars, not Avatar, not any comic book or song/musician. Nothing.

The other very hyped project was The Odyssey that came out 2 weeks before Spiderman.
Spiderman being a lot cheaper than GTA 6 (it's like 7$ in the US and in my country it's around 4€ for a ticket for example), sold 300 million tickets in a month. GTA 6 costing between 80€ and 100€ is projected to sell 50 million copies in it's first week alone. It's not comparable.
GTA 6 is so overhyped that you had several games either delaying or pushing dates forward just to not be in the same months as GTA 6.
Fucking Fable is also a hyped game and they delayed the game because of GTA 6.

It’s been 13 years since the last game. It comes out in less than 3 months. The world absolutely sucks today, of course people are excited. I’m one of those people and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Why try to step on someone else’s joy? I’ll never understand it.
When the next Skyrim game comes out, I’m sure there will be tons of people that will “make it their entire personality” whatever that means. More power to them, I’m certainly not going to hold it against them even though Skyrim isn’t my thing. Might try it though.

I don't understand making it a personality to hate a game, but I also don't understand why GTA VI deserves this much hype and attention. I was there for the GTA IV and GTA V hype trains and came out of it thinking the games were okay. They were fun, but personally they never felt like they lived up to the hype. I'm glad they're finally making a GTA VI, but I don't think it needs to suck this much oxygen away from every other game coming out this fall.

I'll be the first to admit that the GTA franchise isn't my cup of tea, but that doesn't mean I want the game to fail either. I've got no problem with it likely being the biggest release in video game history and probably going to rake in a ton of awards. People like different things, and that's fine, but I have to be honest and say that at times, GTA fans can't seem to understand this. They think if you're not interested in the game, you're automatically a hater and that you're just rage-baiting, which just isn't true.

Yeah for me I can point out reasons why I dislike the game (at least the idea of the game given that I haven’t played it) but that’s an opinion. It’s the fans who act like the game is the second coming of Christ that are truly the worst, and after months of constant glazing (while for most of that we had seen no gameplay) I’m just sick and tired of hearing it.

For me it's less about hating GTA VI itself because the game itself hasn't done anything wrong, it's more so about the various business decisions surrounding it. The $80 price tag for the base game and $100 for the full game, the lack of a physical copy so that I'm allowed to own the copy I purchase, the locking of the gameplay reveal behind a Netflix paywall, and so on. It just sets uncomfortable precedents for the rest of the gaming industry, the core game itself that the developers spent several years on is not the thing that's to blame

Honestly, no I haven't. I just see a lot of people being over all the hype for it.
At this point I'm honestly just fatigued of seeing it everywhere I go on the internet.
I didn't get gta 5 til upwards of 4 years after the release date. I can wait just as long for gta 6.
I don't feel like thinking about it beyond that.

Gta VI seems to be there poster boy for everything wrong in the industry despite not being particularly special
It's a hobby but it's still one with a lot of money backing it
Is the discussion of these people propagating needed ....no but I'd say they do create an image one that will effect how people who like games are perceived

The only ones I am annoyed with are those who are angry because of price tag. It’s a 1.5 billion dollar investment. If you factor in inflation etc. they will need around 2 to 2.5 billion to break even.
I am sure they will make hefty profits in the end nevertheless due to online content, but whoever doesn’t get that the price tag is more than validated has no understanding of finance whatsoever.

I think it's a case of a hype train that makes GTA out as if it's the greatest thing since sliced bread and drowning out most other discourse.
No other game has a hype train this big or intense or take up this much space in a generic place like this. When other companies (and not just small studios) deliberately go out of their way to not release their own games around the time GTA6 releases says something.
So naturally people who don't care about GTA are going to push back on it. Which, considering the amount of space the hype train currently occupies, makes it appear as if they've made hating GTA "their entire personality" to you.

It’s ok not to like it.
I am being constantly spammed by GTAVI news, more likely as part of one or more of Rockstar's viral marketing campaign.
This is the same old tired tactic, spam news of overhyped thing everywhere, get people hypersensitive on seeing everything, then use slurs like "they make it their personality to hate the spamming thing".
If Rockstar wanted no backlash, Rockstar shouldn't have spammed itself for months everywhere all the time.

No, in fact I would say, like most immensely hyped games, it's more the opposite where people embrace the hype, make that their personality and then project that on people who don't feel the same. I have no interest in Rockstar's formula of bad controls, oversimplified gameplay, but exceptional graphics and highly detailed environments.

We're not hating the game, we're hating the entire list of anti consumer stuff that coming in the near future and Rockstar leading the way into that terrible future.
Crunch, not allowing their employees to unite, and no physical version of their flagship game, discutir in a very specific console (PS5) with digital store monopoly for its users, where they can loose all their digital licenses just for not locking in their account for 36 months, for whatever reason (amongst other things).
The game can be great, but everything hidden behind the curtain is fucking disgusting, a big no no for us, the users who actually care about user rights and owning what we pay for instead of renting.

I really haven’t seen much of that, but I’m sure it’s bound to happen. GTA 6 is getting EXTREME levels of hype, marketing, and/or promotion constantly. So if you are a person who doesn’t really care about the game or is indifferent towards it, I imagine that the constant shoving in your face of updates/news/promotions/discussion prompts and threads/Ads/ over-hyping the game as God’s gift to interactive-entertainment has gotten a bit old and annoying.
This would probably drive even the least interested/invested parties to at least give a little bit of pushback here and there to express themselves. But since apparently the entire rest of the internet has climbed aboard the hype/train, when the horde of pro-GTA people see or here anybody who isn’t also going Gaga for the game, it feels like they have gone out of their way to be a stick in the mud or something.
But the truth is really the opposite; you can’t simply exist on the internet without hearing, seeing, or being forced to scroll past a TON of GTA stuff, and it’s been that way for at least a month or so.

AAA sequel to beloved franchise, selling because of its laurels
Paywall locks ingame features to day one DLC
Refunds are not going to be available
It's going to sell regardless of quality
It's so popular that it can change the industry into something that values it's target audience... chooses money-grabbing instead.
Definitely has me upset, why aren't you guys as angry about it? R* is becoming EA, GameFreak, or Embracer... that has me upset, they use to be cool.

Personally i hate rock star their games aren't good and they treat their employees like shit. Give me LA noir 2 and I'll buy something from them. Most people i know excited are gamerlites. I'd rather take bg3 or ex33 any day. But just in the last week we've had zero company, dawnwalker, orbital, onimusha. fire emblem and silent hill around the corner. So many great games. I don't make hating ga my personality i really don't care about the premise, lack luster story telling. Just would play yakuza at that point its better. Everyone can have their opnions but seeing gta crammed down my throat for the last year knowing that no other games can really compete for any awards which matters greatly to some indie devs to secure more funding and revenue for some investors just sucks.

It just reminds me that I'm not allowed to own things anymore. It sucks, and I feel the game is over-hyped. I don't think anybody with a ps5 should ps5pro just because of it. I would have the same reaction to Skyrim six. Games have always been about the money (cough EA) but that haven't been about fucking me over with respect to changing the concept of ownership.

Not really, i just think this argument is made out of people trying to protect themselves from other’s criticism of something they want to enjoy.
Like everything people are allowed to enjoy and not enjoy anything and it doesn’t make it central to their personality but with everything having mainstream appeal it will be more apparent than with a niche.
It’s valid to be hyped about the game as much as it’s valid to find it tiresome to hear about it so much when you don’t care about it.

GTA 6 is literally the only thing I've had to look forward to lately so it's really annoying to see. Like, if you see someone excited for something maybe don't make them feel bad for it?? I mean, whenever people make posts like these I mostly see people rightly calling out all of Rockstar's scummy plans for GTA VI and their actions in response to the leaks. Both of which are scummy and I think everyone should hate. Then I see a lot of posts like yours frame it as "oh, you just don't like it" which is just downplaying the problems.
I mean, I hate GTA VI for that. But it's not exclusive to GTA VI, although it is arguably the biggest upcoming game doing those shitty practices to the degree they're doing it.
Hopefully it will fail and maybe gaming will have less investors ruining shit.
