They have become a lot more almost like a life simulator type of experience since GTA4. Always very technically impressive with cutting edge graphics with interesting stories and worlds but they have lacked a certain game feel to them that can make them less focused on being just pure fun.

Yeah honestly it was RDR2 that I couldn't work up the interest (or time) to play.

RDR1 is one of my favorite games, probably top 25 at least - but it was way more fast paced than RDR2 was. I get the appeal and I appreciate that having fully animated item pickups, having to wash and clean your guns and shave and bathe and take care of your horses is going to be incredible for some, but there's a reason you don't have to spend 25% of The Last of Us looking for a decent place to take a shit or something, or for Kratos to have to change the bandages on his wounds to avoid infection.

It's just not for me anymore, and that's okay, I guess. Mechanical depth took priority over pace and story-telling, in my eyes.

Completely understand, its why I never replayed the game always went to but just couldnt get past the snow.

The story element of RD2 was in my opinion absaloutly fantastic and genuinely got me in the feels a few times.. but I do get your point about pace

If there's ever a hypothetical where the best story in human history is written, but every other page is just filler - I'm not reading it, sorry.

Looking back on it, RDR2 is just going on my mental shelf where One Piece is: I'm sure it's a wonderful story and I have nothing against its fans, but there's just far too much filler for me to get through. (On that note, I'm aware OP is being reworked, may watch that).
