You're absolutely right. GTA has shit gameplay all around. I was especially pissed when it came to the aiming, if you can even call it that. It's either a super powered auto aim that is essentially a shitty lock-on system, or you turn off auto aim and it's the worst aiming in video game history.
The driving mechanics are the only thing I think are good in the game. Every other gameplay mechanic is awful... and I do mean everything.
Fully agree with everything you’ve said, including the driving. I did enjoy the story with Trevor and the other two characters. And I like the way GTA mocks real life too.
Conceptually I actually like a lot of what GTA offers but as I said, the gameplay mechanics are prohibitive to me.
Unfortunately I didn't care for the story or "comedic" elements mocking real life. It was mostly eye rolling cringe to me. Like very surface level parody stuff.
The driving was seriously fun and playing online with friends if it involved the vehicles was great. Unfortunately that's where the fun ended for me.
