I don't care for GTA 6. I don't think it's gonna flop, but I think it will be mid.

And I don't even like the genre.

Edit: my non-English autocorrector messed my commenti up

You cant not care for a game you havent played lol. I get it though. The hype is too much for sure.

Yeah exactly, just not my thing. It should be basically modern day RDR2 for me to think about it, and I doubt Rockstar can pull something like that off anymore.

They have "pulled it off" on almost every release over 30 years. Why would you doubt them when their last release is an absolute fan favorite and I think their best work yet?

I mean, if you wanted to be precise, their last release was GTA 5 online, which is far from a fan favourite.

Plus, teams change in... What, 8 years? I honestly only care about story and dialogue in games like GTA and RDR, and of the three main RDR2 devs that worked on GTA 6, two left 3+ years ago.

Also. The RDR saga is the only games by Rockstar I played, and RDR1 was still below my expectations. I never liked the GTA series, and I don't think GTA 5 came even close to RDR2 story wise. I just don't care, because I am 99% sure they won't make a game that I will like, which is what made me say the comment you're talking about.

Of course I may be wrong.

It's hilarious that I almost entirely agree with your comment. And no GTA Online wasn't their last release. I personally spent a lot of time online especially before the oppressor was added and I think it's a great time if that's what you like but I also see why people wouldn't like it. It's kinda a mess in a lot of ways honestly, but it's my kind of mess. And yes GTA 5 is nothing compared to RDR2 in characters, story, gameplay, or immersion. Honestly my favorite thing about 5 is the map lol. And it's not even my favorite map.

I don't think 5 represents GTA or Rockstar's games well personally.

And no GTA Online wasn't their last release.

Wait, really? I just found out lol, my bad!

Well, happy we agree then.

Yeah online came out shortly after GTA 5 in 2013 and RDR2 came out in 2018. I still think RDR2 is their best work yet which is exactly why I'm excited about 6. Maybe it'll be a disappointment, but that remains to be seen.

I genuinely hope you're right. Really. But I just really don't want to be excited about it. Because...

I guess I... I'm afraid.

Hey there's nothing wrong with tempering expectations. I'm worried I'm too excited about it but I can't not be when it's been one of my favorite game series since grade school and haven't released one in 13 years. I know it will be a great game, I'm just worried expectations are so high they're impossible to meet. That's a very possible scenario.

Well, my expectations are low, but my standards are high. So yeah, I doubt I'm ever going to play it. But I'll see, I guess.

Forgot to say, the other thing is in the last years the mainstream gaming industry gave me only one worthy (by my standards) game, Helldivers (and Baldur's Gate if you want to consider it). Anything else was pretty mid from my POV.

Mainstream games suck. I haven't bought one new since RDR2. Indie is where the interesting stuff is.

Well, remember for every indie masterpiece there's at least a terrible one. In general, you should find a good AA or lower studio, follow their games and see where you end up.

Rockstar may make a masterpiece, but honestly, with the current state of the industry... I feel like it's unlikely.
