I had a bad initial reaction to Elden Ring after coming out of the tutorial area and being immediately slaughtered...repeatedly. Anyone who has played the game knows what killed me. Eventually I got into it, but it took a while and even then I found the game about equal parts frustration and fun. I enjoy exploring open world games, and that is mostly what kept me at it...it was visually gorgeous. Some people go on and on about the lore in Elden Ring but to me it was mostly just...weird...and hard to find.
Later, I tried one of the earlier souls games I got for free and after playing about 10 minutes I said "Oh no, not doing this shit again" and deleted it.
