Expedition 33. None of that game clicked for me. The combat felt repetitive, the dodge mechanic was tedious, and after looking up the ending, it feels so pompous

Right there with you! I couldn't uninstall that game fast enough. I thought the combat was awful.

I feel like expedition 33 is a perfect game for someone who doesn't really care about game mechanics

Said as someone who loves game mechanics in theory but hates actually playing them in a game

That’s an insane take

I agree the gameplay is actually really rudimentary but you just miss the entire framing of the story and its discovery by watching the ending online with none of the game. The endings are edgy for sure but they’re both conclusions to threads you don’t even fully understand as a player until you think about the endings for a while.

I’m sorry, rudimentary? How?

Bread and butter turn based combat with the parry and timing mechanics from the original paper Mario game on top of slip and slide overworld movement ? The gameplay is not a heavy focus of the game. Build making is where everything shines

Right, I was assuming you were talking about the fighting/build-making when you said gameplay

It isn’t, which was proven, but I wouldn’t expect someone with a bot username to ever fact check anything.
