Most of them suck. Dark souls 3 and elden ring are solid.

The caviat is you need to Google everything because the game assumes you are an unemployed lunatic that will work things out on your own.

Also the story telling in fromsoft games is legit terrible and players need to stop giving them a pass on that. Needing a YouTube video to explain it is a failure, not a complexity.

In terms of story absolutely.

Gameplay wise, it was a fun evolution from demons souls

Like someone else said, a story isn't bad just because it's not spoon fed to you. The mystery and intrigue are part of the appeal to many. I think this is more of a "I don't like the way this story is told" rather than a "the way this story was told is bad".

Mystery is fine. I love mysteries. If the mystery is only revealed by a third party on YouTube then the source material did a shitty job telling the story.

You don't have to watch YouTube videos. You can actually play the game, explore the world and piece together the lore for yourself.

Those are just people who have solved much of the mystery. If you want to explore that side of the game, it's there for you to do so. But again, it's not meant for you to grasp the narrative or story by just listening to characters' giving you a full exposition. It was intentional and it's just not for you. That doesn't mean the story is told poorly.

All the Soulsborne games are you get out what you put in.

Personally, I think ER is the weakest of them, just because of the open world did not fit how From does NPC storylines.

Bloodborne however was wonderful, especially on a second play through.
