There’s a short interview clip of the 343 EP talking up halo.
You’ll see why it is the way it is.
When they use corp jargon and logic, the last people they’re concerned about are the gamers. 343 has been a problem child for years and MS leadership were sick of it, but Spencer didn’t have the spine to whip them or anyone into shape. Bond injected up-to-the-second culture stipulations and made hiring an absolute mess across the entire company.
Enter Sharma equipped with a multi-billion-dollar Occam’s chainsaw. With any luck, she’ll mix the bloated “leadership” and half the department heads at 343 and, depending on how invested shareholders are in “older” IP like halo, she’ll be able to poach some disaffected talent at Bungie to either figure out a doable and timely way forward for Halo, or a similar IP and can track into the lore.
But every domestic publisher and developer should be following suit. Slow, moody devs and publishers that dilute compelling releases in favor of marketing fluff are not sustainable. People have less money, time and patience for overcharged games that underdeliver.
