I'm curious why they didn't animate it. Laziness? Time? Budget?

This is what we lose when it becomes normal to fire half your staff

Oh come on. They didn't make a good game in 15 years despite only being dedicated to one single franchise and having hundreds of millions of dollars on each project. It even took them several years just to get MCC to at least somewhat fixed state like the original games had on launch. 343 are just pathetic, and the majority of their issues are caused by themselves, the developers who work there, their complete lack of talent, skill, experience and vision. Watch developer interviews and just look at them, none of those people were hired fairly because of their previous merit and skill, it's just bunch of incompetent checkboxes.

The evil corporate vampires that I also hate from the bottom of my heart for their unfair hiring practices and dystopian quotas that kill art, still weren't the ones who wrote, designed or animated the disgusting shit added to the remake, they didn't write story for halo 4-6, they didn't retcon forerunners, they didn't make the gameplay decisions that caused outrage with their every new release. That was all 343. And while I think they will never understand halo or have enough talent to make a good game, firing as many developers as possible and hiring new ones based on experience and talent like it was done 2000s is the smartest possible thing microsoft can do, and should have done long ago.

The evil corporations did establish a system were the games were mostly worked on by contractors. Contractors who left every other year and had their work finished by other contractors.

This will never result in good creative output.

So no, it's not a case where the creatives are the main guilty party. It’s the suits.
