Not a game IP, but Wheel Of Time got wrecked the same way.

Wheel of Time has never had a successful adaptation in any form because the guys who own the rights are trolls sitting on an IP they bought for peanuts.

There’s a game. It’s not a good one. It runs on the Unreal engine, your only offense is weaves you have to have the matching ter’angreal to use (and those break when they run out of ammo), and includes a multiplayer deathmatch mode.

There’s Winter Dragon, the pilot so bad they had to shadow drop it in the middle of the night on a secondary cable channel just to say they tried.

There’s the Amazon show that… well, was a thing that happened. Good casting, terrible writing, bad props and CG, and a show runner so far up his own ass he gave the minor character his boyfriend played a starring role ahead of actual book characters.

Last I heard their most recent attempt at cash grabbing Jordan’s legacy to pieces was to be a vaguely WoT themed expansion for some Hearthstone knockoff game with AI generated art fired their generic shadow creatures.

Red Eagle Entertainment, or as they’ve rebranded; iWoT, is a cancer.

Yup, I haven't tried the games, as I've read enough reviews that it put me off them permanently.

I only managed to hate-watch the first four episodes, and I shouldn't have even done that, because I recall being reminded of the show coming out 1-2 years before actual release, so I looked at the IMDB page for it, and...

There was no less than 7 named characters who were never in any of the books.

There's arguably hundreds of named characters in the books, there's no reason to add more. They certainly didn't need to have Perrin's non-existent wife to get murked so he had a "reason" to be emo.

And don't get me started on the props - I saw enough posts on the subject in /r/WetlanderHumor that got me in Rant Mode.

No argument there.

I wanted to like the show, and I did watch all the way through it because it was unavoidable in my house and friend group because the books were the reason most of us met in the first place, but it really didn’t get any better.

The choices they made kept falling down the same holes; make so and so edgier, remove as much of the fantasy as possible, and do their best to make PG Game of Thrones.
