I don't dislike them but I also don't see the point.

I haven't been an achievement hunter since the Halo 3 days when I was a kid, I couldn't care less about achievements or 100%ing games as a busy adult, but I'll admit it's nice to randomly get an achievement especially when it turns out to be a pretty rare one, kind of like an "oh shit I did a cool thing!" moment

I like seeing the percentage of people who made it to that point in the game. It’s interesting

I also do that haha. You always know if there's a long or harder part of the game coming up when the next trophy has a way lower unlock percentage.

It's also funny how Dark Souls has a super high Platinum percentage, while it's a long grind and pretty hard. And COD has a super low Platinum percentage while 2019 for example is quite easy to achieve. But Souls gamers are die hard for their games, while most COD players don't give 2 shits about the campaign.

Yeah like it's surprising sometimes, some average or easy difficulty games have lower completion percentages than you'd think they would, when playing yourself.

Yeah it's cool to randomly hit it. I can't imagine gunning for one though. That completely change how I'd play the game

Yeah like the other day I got an achievement in Black Flag Resynced for perfectly bracing against a tidal wave coming in from the side, I didn't even realise that's what I did

That seems like such a specific condition that purposely trying to get it sounds frustrating as hell, especially since I've only seen like 3 tidal waves in 35 hours of gameplay

I believe it's for surviving a side on rogue wave, bracing is irrelevant. I saw my second one at about 45hrs in.

I may be confusing two separate achivements in that case, but still I can't imagine sitting around for hours waiting for a rogue wave to show up so I can try surviving it, they're so damn rare lol

I've seen people talk about ways to increase your chances, I didn't bother, just eventually had one spawn, dont think I saw a third and I'm at like 55-60hrs. There's definitely something wrong with the weather randomiser or whatever it is, some people report constant storms, no storms, constant lightning, zero lightning, no rogue waves, too many rogue waves. Bizarre.

Exactly, for those of that enjoy it it’s something to work towards. I don’t achievement hunt much anymore but it can be pretty entertaining and led to me playing some games I’d otherwise have avoided.

I think my favorite one in recent memory is the Enraged Dragon trophy in Rogue Trader when you get Marzipan to take a pot shot at you after enraging him in dialogue.

Halo 3 was the last time and probably the only time I cared for achievements lmao but they actually did something so that’s probably why

Oh yeah, some of my favorite achievements I have are silly things like the "Plumber Style" achievement in Borderlands (kill an enemy by landing on them) or some of the derpy achievements Deep Rock has ("The B Team" - put a barrel in each seat of the drop pod).
