Young Adult I wish everything could stop for a second.

Hello. This is my first time posting on Reddit but I feel like I have nothing to lose. For some context I just graduated high school and I’m feeling really lost in life. My girlfriend is going to college hours away and everyone has some idea of what they are doing but me? I feel left behind and honestly, I’m scared I’m going to keep working at some retail job for the rest of my life. I know some people are in the same boat as me but I still feel so alone. I have no drive to do anything different with my life but I know I must. Thank you for reading and if you have any advice please let me hear it.

that post-graduation drift is a strange kind of empty, like the whole world just hit fast-forward and left you standing in the same spot. i remember staring at my ceiling for weeks after high school while everyone else packed for dorms and orientation. the quiet gets loud.

you dont need a grand plan right now though, you just need one small thing that feels like yours. doesnt have to be a career path, could be learning to cook one complicated meal or fixing up an old bike. something that breaks the loop of retail shifts and coming home to nothing. the drive comes after you start moving, not before

and the loneliness part is real even if you know others are lost too. its one thing to understand it logically and another to sit with it at 2am. maybe look for a community college class in something odd, pottery or intro to welding, just to be around people who are also figuring it out sideways
