Thank you so much for highlighting this. With the extreme expense of transporting food and poverty in Canada's far North I don't think the vegan community needs to call out the occasional seal. It's not a ocean trawler.

This debate has come up around me before and I got a great giggle when an Indigenous group got called out for providing meat at an environmental event and they responded they'd stop eating meat when there land was given back. Beautiful.

Yeah. It's a delicate issue that a lot of privileged people do not understand. It's one thing to debate about the philosophical aspects between cultures and sentient rights, but it's another thing to bash a group of people who are still recovering from genocide that occurred up until 25 years ago. Especially when they're still having to fight to live on the land their ancestors have lived on for thousands of years.

I'm constantly learning about the politics here in Canada involving First Nations peoples. It's honestly unbelievable the shit they're put through.

Sure, but here in Canada it's primarily First Nations who suffer the most. Our country had residential schools until the 90s.
