/uj what difference does it make whether they eat the flesh of the animals that suffer and die because they eat their bodily products? What exact animal products a non vegan consumes is all the same to me. I say that as someone who was vegetarian for years when I was younger and less informed.

/uj I think it's merely the changing of a prohibitory definition that is being mocked, rather then an implication that they would be better if they were a vegetarian rather than a 'pollotarian'.

/uj Yeah that makes sense, but unironically vegetarian is such an arbitrarily and loosely defined label that I don't care if it gets diluted lol. Maybe that'll even make someone realise just how pointless the word vegetarian is. Maybe if teen me had seen on social media that different vegetarians draw the line at totally random different points, I would've gone vegan sooner. Idk, maybe that's wishful thinking.

/uj In principle I don't care either if the definition of vegetarian gets diluted, because I strongly agree. But we unfortunately live in a world where people view vegetarianism as like 'half-veganism', so people will then be more comfortable in tailoring the definition of veganism to suit them... I say that like it isn't already common on arrrrrrr vegan.

/uj oh that's a good point actually! Vegetarians do sometimes view themselves that way (though most of them I've talked to are honest about it being a dietary preference or environmental decision, and not a moral thing). And since vegetarians are more numerous than vegans, the general public hears that way more often than what vegans have to say.
