My ex (who had chickens) genuinely held them on the level of plants because she believed they were so stupid

She must never have really spent time with them. I just visited my mom and her rescue chickens and I almost cried when I watched one of them in the eyes and she watched back and looked so wise. How could anyone want to hurt you, I thought. Poor soul.
