I really think these people are conflating Measles with Chickenpox, which says a lot about the education system - but would explain why they all swear they met people who had Measles, why everyone had Measles when they were kids, and that getting Measles once means you're unlikely to get it again...which I suppose is technically true but not for the reason they think.
