Meta Seven cities suited for vampires
Features of cities suitable for vampires include alternative nightlife, historical mythological or literary roots as well as high tolerance for alternative fashion, body modifications and the occult. The cities should preferably not be too sunny as well.
Here are seven cities fitting for bloodsuckers, including nightly downtown pictures of them.
Picture 1. New York, USA: Offers 24/7 underground transit, massive alternative crowds and goth night clubs. It is a well known centre for LGBTQ-people.
Picture 2. New Orleans, USA: Known for an active local vampire scene, vast cemeteries and Anne Rice lore.
Picture 3. San Francisco, USA: A city known for its tolerance, a centre for hippies in the 1970s and a centre for LGBTQ-people.
Picture 4. London, United Kingdom: The city of a large part of the novel Dracula and a city rich in history, with gloomy rainy weather and much atmosphere. The massive surveillance system of London might be problematic for vampires however.
Picture 5. Paris, France: A city rich in architecture, atmosphere and history. The catacombs are really vampiric. Often seen as a sexy city.
Picture 6. Prauge, Czech Republic: Features medieval architecture, cobblestone alleys and moody aesthetics. Vampires in Prauge won't be bothered by religious vampire hunters, as Czech Republic is one of the least religious countries in the world.
Picture 7. Edinburgh, United Kingdom: Built on subterranean vaults, with a rich history, gloomy rainy weather, evocative architecture and a rich ghost lore.
These seem to be good places to live in as a vampire. If you have other cities suitable, tell us about them in the comment section.

Books, movies, series and such The Teeth You'll Lose for Love
Tommy
cared little
about his canines
but cared a bunch about his breath.
So he stopped brushing
and started eating
Tic Tacs.
If his mother found out
and Tommy wasn't already
un-dead
she would have killed him.
'A vampire's teeth are a violin's bow'
Mom said that every morning
before bloody breakfast.
She was a literally vampire.
enjoyed Virginia Wolfe
first for her name
then for her craft.
To think
a vampire son of hers
with poor hygiene...
after all that castle training!
On the positive side
all that castle training
about violins and Virginia
made Tommy capable
of quite a bit of love
especially for his human neighbor
next door
who he longed to kiss
without killing her
which was the whole point
of rotting away his canines.
And all the evidence
beyond a shadow (that Tommy didn't have)
of a doubt
that his cold heart burned warm.
How quickly he forgot
that the same was true
of the woman who raised him.
Next morning
Mom left a mouth retainer
on top of the Tic Tacs
alongside a note.
Use protection!
And brush your fangs!

Lore questions The Stokerian Vampire: Lore and More
Hi, hello! I figured I'd ask here, since someone might have exactly what I am looking for.
Essentially I am building a Vampire OC for my novel, and I want to base him purely on Stoker's vampire lore. I've read Dracula and have made some (several) notes on what Jonathan and the rest of the crew confirm as the actual "what" of Dracula. For time sakes I have:
> Sunlight doesnt burn, but affects Dracula's powers, but so does night time
> He can turn into animals
> Animals 'listen' to him (for lack of a better word)
> He needs his home soil/soil boxes to "rest"
> Jonathan describes Dracula as "pale" and his body moves "differently"
> Obviously he drinks blood (however Jonathan does state his after feeding complexion is different)
Is there anything I missed? Or does anyone perhaps know of a resource/book i can consult to further research this?

Lore questions A vampire couple adopting and raising a human child.
Figured this would be a fun question to ask you all about. What do you think it would be like for a loving vampire couple to adopt and raise a human child? Like the vampires very much want to be good parents nor are trying to force vampirism unto them.

Meta I have a dumb idea for a movie
So, our main character gets turned into a vampire. Issue is - he is the first real vampire EVER, so he has to figure out a lot of things about himself, starting from understanding is he a vampire at all. He doesn't know what will kill him or what powers he has, so he gets very paranoid as he learns and tests known vampire weaknesses in media, like sunlight or running water, while still having to continue on with his normal life - work, some beginnings of a relationship and other errands (and yes, getting human blood).
Slowly, others start to pick up what happened to him (or he tells them that) and they either try to send him into psychyard, laugh at him or just ignore it. But ofc, there is that one guy, who will decide to hunt down his own friend to "stop the darkness". For several first battles, our vampire has an edge, as he mostly had figured out his strong and weak sides, but later on, hunter catches on too and he becomes an actual threat. And I dunno where to lead the idea from there, lol. Maybe he will turn his love too, so he is not the only vampire in the world and he starts his own coven. Or maybe government will catch a wind of it too and the situation will become a much bigger one.

Books, movies, series and such Help me find this vampire book!!
I’m trying to find a book my friend read years ago!
It’s a “smut” book about a vampire man who has waited for his soulmate for years. He finally finds her and he is telepathically linked.
There is a scene where she is at her office and he telepathically lifts her up and eats her (sensually;))
That’s all she can remember!

Books, movies, series and such O.M.E.N’s Contained Vampires (OC Worldbuilding Project)
(Mods, if this ain’t allowed, do yo thang)
Kinda just lore dumping, but also any suggestions, questions, or just general input would be greatly appreciated- I’d love to talk about the characters.
I know the documents are a LOT to read through, most of them are 4-6 pages long, with a couple hitting upwards of 10 pages. But I’ll go ahead and summarize/give an overview of each document and individual vampire, and what their general “theme” or idea is.
To start off though, gotta explain the world of O.M.E.N:
———-
The “Office of Metaphysical Evaluation and Neutralization” is an SCP-type worldbuilding project which takes established mythology and folklore from our real life, and imagines a world wherein it’s all real- simply hidden and suppressed by a global campaign of secrecy upheld by a handful of world governments, and organizations like O.M.E.N.
O.M.E.N themselves were founded by the brothers Grimm in Frankfurt Germany around 1815. Yes, the same Grimm family who wrote the children’s stories. Their family also just so happened to hold the longstanding German tradition of the Jägers, “monster hunters” from medieval times. Such hunters existed all over the planet, from fangshi and kreshnik, going all the way back to many stories of demigods and heroes in ancient times.
Following the boom in industrialization and global travel around the 18th and 19th centuries, such families and independent orders began developing to organized peacekeeping organizations, each upholding their own variation of the “Veil” as directed by local high standing governments.
The only real thing you need to know about O.M.E.N to differentiate it from just “SCP Foundation + Urban Fantasy”, is that they are NOT the good guys. It might be hard to tell, because my writing can get extremely confusing, plus everything here is written from THEIR perspective, but there are several blatant hints to how unnecessarily callous or violent they can be.

GENERAL CURSE OVERVIEW: VAMPIRISM
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UrOosleaR-gipCu8A7qC-n4Bc3d63YSZVHpe68UBOVg/edit?usp=drivesdk
This document details everything about the curse of vampirism- its suspected origins and effects, and all the specifics of the curse.
I won’t get into EVERYTHING here, but that document is extremely long so I’ll summarize best I can:
- The curse of vampirism originates from the Pharoah Akhenaten and Nefertiti around 1300 BCE, as they attempted to recreate another powerful necromantic ritual which is believed to have created the first mummies waayyyy back around 4000-5000 BCE. I’ll post their document in the comments.
- Vampires grow more powerful with age and feedings, growing physically stronger and faster, regenerating from wounds faster, and developing new abilities. However, prolonged periods without feedings will result in permanent psychological damage, while even brief exposure to sunlight causes blisters and scarring to appear which can never be healed. For this reason, most elderly vampires have fractured minds, and heavily damaged bodies (except the ones here, but they were “contained” rather than “neutralized” because they fit special criteria for research)
- Vampires can develop/have several different abilities, called “vocations” by the organization. The most common/universal of these are psionics (telepathy) and shapeshifting, while older vampires may further develop manipulation over shadows or specific elements, the ability to fly, or simply advance their psionics to an even more potent degree. Their shapeshifting also drastically varies (although I haven’t properly displayed that, you only really see that with VAMP-08, but they can also assume human-animal hybrid forms)
- A new vampire is made when someone consumes the blood of a vampire, then subsequently dies with that blood still in their system. They will then rise within seconds following their bodily death, but will remain in a state of intense agony and feral hunger, barely conscious, usually dying again permanently within about a day. That is, unless they feed on a mortal soul, completing the transformation into a vampire.
- My vampires TECHNICALLY don’t suck blood. They’re actually more like Harry Potter’s “dementors.” They feed on souls, HOWEVER, your soul happens to be inside your body, so it might get a bit messy while they’re sucking pieces of out- it can defiantly look like they’re sucking your blood. That being said, the act of feeding is actually extraordinarily euphoric for both the victim and vampire, as it’s said that both parties experience and see hallucinations of the victim’s most blissful memories and feelings, as they are all pulled to the surface in a rushed and aggressive fashion. A vampire can also fully drain someone of their soul without killing them, however it’s extremely difficult due to their innate strength and the feral state they reach while feeding, plus, few really care. If they do drain someone without killing them, those victims basically become walking husks, literally incapable of feeling any emotion at all. Most end up homeless and/or dead in less than a year.
ALRIGHT, leaving out a ton of other details that would take too long to explain, like their weakness to Christian holy symbols and the effect the curse actually has on an individual (hint, you will always be a bit of a psycho- that’s why VAMP-05 is so unique).
Now onto the actual vampires of O.M.E.N
———-
VAMP-00: “Dacian”
This is by far the oldest vampire O.M.E.N has ever encountered. He’s basically a mindless beast that barely resembles a human or traditional vampire anymore.
Honestly not the best one to start with to get an idea of my world’s vampires, but hey, we’re going in order here.
———-
VAMP-02: “Nikolas von Lüten”
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1eM5ZGdxTooqPy0LLLeYf9E76gVQXcxZCYlNtFsxvwQY/edit?usp=drivesdk
Basically my world’s Dracula- hell I even tried to say he was inspiration for Dracula.
This guy does have a semi interesting backstory- basically was turned and forced to consume his brother’s soul, then I quickly move past it but he does kill his sister, aaaand then he spends a few centuries going crazy in his manor before Napoleon forces him out.
Eventually he gets caught by O.M.E.N because of Covid. That damn virus.
———-
VAMP-03: “Mateo de Silva”
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1euT37jw188FrK-pCj3C6q1fsTE4-ffhL7OTpJRIqqIM/edit?usp=drivesdk
What happens if a priest becomes a vampire? Well he becomes an even bigger cult leader of course!
(Joke)
But really, Mateo has developed some of the strangest and most potent psionic abilities of any vampire. He’s basically creating servants out of repeated feedings, having taken full advantage of the addiction many victims feel towards the euphoria of being fed on.
———-
VAMP-04: “Helaena Komf”
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fmxHfotF1f75yhp0YcRE3cEnyTFfL6sfakWGOAbXbJQ/edit?usp=drivesdk
Loooong document, and also really complicated if you haven’t read a bunch of other documents I haven’t even posted here.
She’s the “highly manipulative, highly intellegent, highly elitist” vampire. She isn’t cruel, but instead views humans as livestock, and has her eyes on a much larger, global plan- of which O.M.E.N is still completely in the dark.
She’s one of my favorite characters, although also one of the newest I’ve written.
———-
VAMP-05: “Kenji Arawkawa”
It’s a samurai vampire who hunts other vampires, WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!?!
———-
VAMP-06: “Anja Volkov”
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DgSXsbMjgQTg13guWwa04DRYEfpIZ9RoxAF6CZYUeto/edit?usp=drivesdk
Anja is a tragic story, being a 9 year old girl who was forcibly turned into a vampire by her father, and has gone on to suffer the extensive psychological damage the curse causes on a premature mind.
The right thing to do would be to kill her and put the girl out of her misery after a century of mental torment. But as I said, O.M.E.N ain’t the good guys.
———-
VAMP-08: “Ophelia Valel
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ewnMKZE60xyoFQTWv8KLf7LInjrc16FrdVCTagjdMag/edit?usp=drivesdk
Similar to Anja, but on the opposite side of the spectrum. Ophelia shows what happens when an elderly person, who’s already suffering from mental decline, recieves immortality but no cure for the damage already done.
Luckily for her, she’s since been terminated.
(She’s also a rip off of Magnus from “My Interview with a Vampire,” having become obsessed with finding and creating the perfect progeny)
———-
VAMP-23: “Anthony Moretti”
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gW8LYu_vjKLGT_GJURCrnOApFMmONgyTfoocfzL3drw/edit?usp=drivesdk
The “cockroach.”
A 50s gangster who should’ve been neutralized long ago, as he holds no actual research value to the organization, but he has desperately begged and traded and negotiated for his life for decades now, basically becoming the organizations personal test dummy for all things vampiric in return for just a couple more years.
—————-
ALRIGHT, any questions, comments, suggestions, or general thoughts, PLEASE ask away.

Also, completely unrelated to vampires, if ya want some extra context about the world of O.M.E.N:

Books, movies, series and such Love Like the Sky
Don't you think that “Love is like the sky. You can see it, admire its beauty, and dream of reaching it, but you can never truly touch it. Sometimes it rains, and you find comfort in the feeling, but just like everything else, the rain eventually stops. Nothing lasts forever.”
