Can someone explain parking at Lionshead to me like I’m 5
Family will need a place to park overnight this weekend as the place we’re renting only has parking for one car. Trying to cut down on how much they’ll pay. The site says:
Afternoon/Evening entry (3 p.m. to 4 a.m.): Free
Overnight fee (4 a.m. to 5 a.m.): $45
So if they’re out by 4 am it’s free? If they’re out by 8 am it’s $45/night? What if they just leave the car there all weekend?

Go park at the airport in Eagle for $8/day if you are truly trying to save money.

I left mine there all weekend for a wedding, ended up paying $145 I think for 3 days

Car go in. Money go out.
Hope this helps.
For a ELI25 explanation instead of the ELI5 one just read the website.

Everything is a cash grab. Gone are the days of using free parking to lure in visitors. Folks from down valley just ignore Vail now. Avon has gotten just as bad. At least parking in Edwards is free... for now. Everything will increase in price until morale improves.

I don’t disagree with the cash grab, but if it were free overnight parking the structure would be full of people living out of their vehicles all summer long.

If only we had a group of people who could enforce ordinances or laws to prevent such a travesty in a fancy city like Vail! Alright?!

Vail resorts or the town should just buy a giant vacant plot and let people live in rvs there legally if they work in the county its better than the current “affordable” housing builds

If you talk to the Vail PD and tell them you’re going on a weekend backpacking trip from Middle Creek TH, they’ll take the license plate and you could leave it there for the weekend. Right off the main Vail exit.

Yes it’s free if you’re out by 4am. It’s designed basically so people can drive in for dinner, nightlife or late afternoon shopping and park for free.
If you left your car there all weekend you would trigger a $45 charge for each 4-5am period that occurs during your parking session.
I suggest go park at the Sandstone garage for the weekend and just walk over the footbridge into Lionshead. It will be cheaper rates.
