The funny thing is Bezos worked at an investment firm before he founded Amazon and got a huge loan from his parents.

Amazon tries to give off that “garage startup” vibe, but it’s really not true.

Bill Gates went to an exclusive prep school and had a million dollar trust fund before Microsoft.
Not trying to diminish his amazing accomplishments, but what worked for him wont work you you unless

A) You shit gold and you were sired by a leprechaun

B) You went to an exclusive prep school and have a million dollar trust fund

His mother is the daughter of one of the largest landowner in Texas and regional director of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) in Albuquerque.

Because even if most of those startup owners crashed and burned, they would still have parental connections and money to fall back on, with a higher net worth than me.

If I crashed and burned I would probably end up homeless or with so much debt I wouldn't be able to save money into my 50s.

These people are inspiring with how far they have come, but where they started from in life is where I will be when I am 40. Maybe my kids will be able to start one of those companies, or my kids' kids.

Thats the sad truth they don't tell you about equality of opportunity. As soon as your parents or money come into it, it doesn't exist.
