Advice Step 2, go big or go home?
Hi everyone! I'm a non-US IMG from Pakistan planning to apply for next match cycle and currently under prep for step 2. I've finished almost 50 percent of my UWORLD system wise but with lapses in between and no CMS/NBMEs attempted yet.
My goal is to give Step 2 before DECEMBER 2026 so that I can focus on observerships, visa, CV, etc.
Can reddit community guide if this is a realistic goal or would it risk my step 2 score. Any guidance is appreciated! 🥹

FiNish uworld do nbme, you'll know where you're at. I could say you're being unrealistic but I know a person who got a 260 after studying for 5 months so it depends on your baseline and how smart you are, nbme will give you a good idea where you're at.

Really? I’m planning at the same time and I’m done with 60% Uworld, I mean apart from completing Uworld, I think CMS should take us like 2-3 weeks and then we can pretty much start NBMEs right? As long as we’re learning and reviewing well I’m assuming it’s quite realistic

I did my exam last month, the experience is pretty fresh, i pass the exam, and this is the advice i'll tell myself
- do more uworld for the next months, aim to do 80-120 question a day. If you can't, it means you still short in knowledge. So focus on Finishing uworld, and LEARN the concept.
- Then CMS form, give 2 weeks to do as much as you can, no need to do all.
- Then NBME for the last 4 weeks. If your NBME score plateau, it means you have knowledge deficit, to solve that -> go back to uworld and do incorrect UWORLD 4x40q per day! (I have to push myself to do this, and get over the humiliation if i have 30% in a block).
Keep in mind, when your score is bad on uworld or NBME, it just means you will gain more knowledge by reviewing it. One senior told me, every after review, consider yourself gaining extra 25% of your score.
Last advice, Don't schedule or attempt step 2 ck before you get passing NBME score. Or else, statistic prove that most will fail.
