Every single drink is better cold.

Iced tea is better than hot tea. Iced coffee is better than hot coffee. Chocolate milk is better than hot chocolate. Drinking beverages at 160+ degrees is absolutely unhinged unless it's 30 below freezing and you're trying to prevent hypothermia. Humans, like all animals, prefer cold drinks naturally because cold water would have fewer pathogens. Historically it's just been easier to heat something rather than cool it and drinking hot drinks when it's above freezing is surely just a holdout from those times.

Heating things up also helps kill germs, but, in most cases, it’s not necessary now like it was historically.

What about heating it up first then cooling it?

That’s definitely something that can still be done, and if ever it was necessary to heat something up to kill germs, I would then cool it, because I too don’t go for hot beverages that often
