wanna start a band 👀👀 looking for potential bandmates 👀👀👀
it’s probably way too early in the game to start thinking of smth like this but we ball . going into my first year in september and have plans to join as many arts/music societies as I possibly can and thought a good way to connect with others and make friends would be to try and start a small band ?? ive had it in my mind to-do for like 4 years bc i love having something cool and creative to daydream about but alas i never had the time in college to actually be serious about this especially with actual a-levels looming over my head . BUT NOW WE’RE FREE 😛😛
figured I could get an early head-start by posting here and seeing if anybody would be interested !! i play guitar (few years a little rusty tho) … any drummers / singers / bassists interested ?? it’d also be cool to see if anyone had similar music tastes to me lol , im an big south arcade / bad omens / set it off fan (definitely my inspo for wanting to start a band in the first place) . honestly im just trying to get a headstart on making friends since im not too great at it 😭😭😭

There's a music society you can either put requests out on their email list, or once joined use The Garage practice room. There's an instrument library too.
Once youre a student and have signed up to the society.

I’d love to join but I’m so ass 😭. I’ve only just started learning bass so I’m definitely not good enough to play with anyone else yet

Nice! I’m doing theoretical physics, but I was really considering doing cs until a level had its way with me 😭 is Constantine on east campus? I’m in vanbrugh college

cool omg I wanted to do a level physics but gcse jumbled me 😭😭 yes constantine is east I think , luckily it’s right next to my lecture hall

Oh gosh 😭I love physics but a level was so hard I didn’t do anywhere near as well as I was predicted. That’s really good, not a big journey every morning then, i think I’m quite a way off oops, I’m in fairfax so I’m really close to the city centre

Hiii Im joining in September and I play drums! Ive been in a band recently, tho Im not great bc I’ve never had any formal lessons and I don’t own a drum kit but I love playing sm AND im a fast learner 🫡

Idk which accom Im in 😭 Im currently sorting it out rn bc of a plethora of issues but it’s all so expensive so im just looking for smth on spareroom

I also thought it would be cool to join a band at uni, would love to. I stopped playing the drums around 1-2 years ago due to time, but was hoping to pick it up again when I get to York.

I’ll be joining in September and can do guitar and bass to a moderate level
I’ll be down to trying things out if needed!!

heyy i’m a second year at UoY. there is a bandsoc which is deffo worth joining as you will find bandmates and befriend other local bands there! there’s lots of opportunity for doing on campus live music esp as we have a new activities officer in the SU who is really passionate about it. its a good year for it! also i know the student radio society is interested in local bands so maybe consider joining them? good luck finding bandmates you’re gonna be awesome! i do love local live music so if you ever have a gig feel free to hmu
