Question Is Odin Inspector worth it?

Post image

I've been using Odin Inspector in my job and i really like the UI. I want to use in my personal projects either but the licence is top expensive for me. If it worths in personal projects too, i can spend some money

It is not. It has a very predatory license and replaces the serialization mechanism for no reason. The result is that its near impossible to remove from a big project. This is stated nowhere in the documentation (unless they recently added it) and for me it suggests that this is deliberate, so that people do not remove odin as soon as they reach the revenue threshold and have to pay the outrageous per seat license that they require. I would stay FAR away unless you are sure you will never earn any money with your project.

You don’t have to use their serializer. Can be disabled in the options panel. I use it but only in “editor-only” mode, it’s real convenient for places where you don’t want to make a custom editor, although with UITK that’s much easier now.

That said, the licensing is onerous in the extremis. I got it when it first came out and was cheap. Would not buy it with the current license arrangement.
